Donor Controversy Hits Mississippi Conservatives
The American Spectator ^ | July 3, 2014 | Jeffrey Lord

As the curtain is pulled up on all the shenanigans involved in one way or another with last week’s Mississippi GOP Senate primary, the cast of characters amazes.

At the story’s center is a group calling itself Mississippi Conservatives. The group is on the receiving end of furious charges of race-baiting and racism that have smeared not only Tea Party candidate Chris McDaniel but the larger GOP and the GOP Establishment that participated in the smear. We’ve been through the names of contributors over there at the Federal Election Commission, and looked into some of those involved.

The still unfolding story involves everyone from a contributor to President Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Vice President Joe Biden to former Vice President Al Gore and Democrat Senators that are being targeted by the National Republican Senatorial Committee in the 2014 elections.

Also involved? Two-co-authors of Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus’s “autopsy report” — aka the Growth and Opportunity Project — that made much of outreach to African-Americans. One of them an RNC member, the other a former top aide to Florida Governor Jeb Bush.

Let’s start there with the autopsy report authors.

Man what a pile of dung. I’ll bet no one involved ever, ever, thought they’d be caught.

This all is no surprise to any of us, but at the same time it’s a bit shocking, and pleasing, to actually see names attached.

We've always known that Karl Rove was a problem and now we know that a lot of his money comes from democrat supporters trying to sabotage republicans. Good job Karl, you're a real piece of work.

All of these people are dirty and I hope they are tarred and feathered and run out of town.

I've been over to the Mississippi Conservatives website. Nothing but McDaniel-bashing.

My, my, my.

The plot....she thickens! LOL!

Followed a link from the article concerning another 'player' in this mess. Mitzi Bickers.

And, apparently, for Thad Cochran. Federal Election Commission reports indicate that the Mississippi Conservatives PAC paid The Bickers Group $25,000 last week for “GOTV phone services” — even though, according to the Georgia secretary of state’s website, The Bickers Group dissolved in September 2012.

Kinda makes you go hmmm....

All he has to do is change is party affiliation to “Democrat” and the news media will forget this ever happened.

Who are all these “altruistic” Black men who rushed to the polls to save Cochran’s sorry *** ?

In it’s base for, what this makes crystal clear is that this was entirely a Karl Rove and Haley Barbour operation. They slimmed us with the most ugly racist ads and robocalls. They deliberately set out to exploit the caricature of “racist Republicans”, i. e., Conservatives.

I believe Rove and Barbour saw this Mississippi race as the firewall wherein they had to pull out all the stops, after the Cantor loss, to halt the advance of the Tea Party.

Of course they never fight this hard or this dirty against any Democrat in a General election. They HATE the Conservative base, they long to reach across the aisle and be bipartisan in any General election.

Dung being the operative word - and now that it [claims of racism] has hit the fan, Democrats are laughing their asses off as its flung wide and far. Looks like the GOP-e will have to chalk the long term effects of this up as collateral damage.

Haley Barbour, Karl Rove, and the woman that used to work for Jeb, of course.

If anyone thinks we can ever work with the RNC, they need to read this article front to back.

Fascinating report. I was amazed at how many donors, not only to the “Mississppi Conservatives” group but to the RNCC etc., also contribute to the Dems or to individual Dem Senators. And we’re talking big donations, not $25 here and there.

I suppose there’s a strategy there, but it’s hard to see what it is.

The really big ones donate to both sides. It’s a protection racket, insurance money, whatever you want to call it. Cost of doing business, buying a seat at the table. It doesn’t matter which party wins, either way, these players want to be in a position to call in their chit.

I have always been a loyal Republican Party backer, and have unlike some of the Republican haters here always thought that the Party has to be something of a Reagan era-like broad tent to win elections, but I find this whole episode utterly appalling. In an environment where we have a Marxist in the White House and the left wing propaganda media slandering Republicans as racists every single day, how can the party establishment think it can be a good idea to participate in this kind of vile slander. Color as edging to the Tea Party side here.

Good job Karl, you're a real piece of work.

I would be more "polite" saying "piece of shit"!

When seeing this partly laundry list of donors, tells how rotten politics really is!!

It is NOT "We the people" it's "We the greedy politicians," makes you sick!!!

It isn’t hard to see at all. America has turned into Rome.
