I have always been a loyal Republican Party backer, and have unlike some of the Republican haters here always thought that the Party has to be something of a Reagan era-like broad tent to win elections, but I find this whole episode utterly appalling. In an environment where we have a Marxist in the White House and the left wing propaganda media slandering Republicans as racists every single day, how can the party establishment think it can be a good idea to participate in this kind of vile slander. Color as edging to the Tea Party side here.

I think about how the GOP-e leadership on the Hill has blasted Tea Party conservatives and the “up-start” “meddling” “outside” “fringe” groups that support them.

Makes you think real hard about who you contribute to - when you read Jeffrey Lord’s list - contributors who give with ease to both the GOP-e and the Dems.

I have to conclude that the “outside” groups don’t want their donations going into a GOP-e/Dem political slush fund, but rather to support true Tea Party conservatives.

It also makes me think real hard about why elected Republicans refuse to campaign against an incumbent in the primary - it would seem that the GOP-e doesn’t want to dip into that slush fund, if they don’t have to.

The Reagan era broad tent was the direct result of having an eloquent, principled conservative at the helm. This broad tent occurred because Republican voters ignored the rhetoric of the establishment Republicans, which claimed that crazy and out-of-the-mainstream conservatives were unelectable.

It is, and always has been, the establishment, "moderate", Republicans which make the tent small. They are anathema to both independents and blue collar Democrats, unlike principled conservatives like Reagan.

Establishment Republicans couldn't care less about being the dominant party. Their only concern is to be the dominant player in the Republican party, so that they can maintain their power. They are willing to tolerate conservatives, so long as conservatives provide nothing more than votes. But any strong conservative leaders have to be crushed, mercilessly, since they threaten the establishment's grip on power.

You want a big tent? The first step, and mandatory prerequisite, for that is the defeat of establishment Republicans, from the Senate, all the way down the ticket.

“Color as edging to the Tea Party side here.”

The “TEA PARTY” doesn’t really exist, it’s the people on the Conservative side of the Republican Party that realize their party is excluding them and in an effort to replace them with those who are more “progressive”. I don’t believe they actually want to take the WH, congress or senate, they seem to relish in being the second party and Conservatives are not content with this.

Reagan’s big tent was an invitation to follow a real leader. Today’s big tent is the driver’s seat as long as you’re heading left

"...the Party has to be something of a Reagan era-like broad tent to win elections,..."

Think about it for a minute... what made Reagan a big tent guy and Ford, Bush I, Bush II, Romney, Dole and McCain not big tent guys.

I know you think the Tea Party is not big tent due to the media influencing you, but the Tea Party is the big tent. All the big government, so-called moderate GOP presidential candiates could not attract Democrat votes, but Reagan could. Bush I won his term running as Reagan's third term. In office, Bush I governed as a big government progressive and lost in the greatest political collapse for a president in American history; 90%+ support down to 37% vote. Why?

Bush II won running as a conservative and managed to hang on for a second term mostly because of his fighting the war on terror. He left in disgrace, due to his big government policies. Bush I left us the creepy Bill Clinton for 8 years and Bush II left us with the even creepier and more evil Obama for 8 years.

Progressive Republicanism is a loser at the polls, a loser in governing and leaves us with even further leftwing progressives once they leave office with their tail between their legs.

Don't allow yourself to be influenced by the media. Come'on.
