If you haven’t been keeping up with current events, we (as in the US foreign policy and military) have been paving the way for the Caliphate for three decades now.
That leaves Russia or China to do the work. Which they won’t till the remains of the US empire are fully taken out.
Heck the west will let them. The only countries without suicidal PC policies that will stop them are Russia and China.

They are in the 10 year plan.
The problem I see for the mideast is that China is fast replacing the US as the big hog at their oil trough.
And the ChiComs won’t be nearly as nice a customer.
They’ll never even make it past Iran. All they’ve done is effectively declare war on the majority of Muslims, and especially the Shiites, who will never accept ISIS’s claim to sovereignty over them.
