Under the gun to satisfy a federal judge, the City Council unanimously agreed Wednesday to allow gun shops, but keep them out of most neighborhoods and require them to videotape every sale to prevent straw purchases.
If it was up to me as the person who helped establish the Brady bill, the five-day waiting period and the assault weapons ban, I wouldnt take this step, Mayor Rahm Emanuel said after the 48-to-0 vote.
But given that were under court order, we decided wed take the six months to come up with a way of designing an ordinance that meets the judges requirements, but also does not undermine public safety.
Ald. Pat OConnor (40th), the mayors City Council floor leader, was even more direct.
We had a gun to our head, he said.

Opening a gun shop in Chicago would require a brass set given all the crooked city officials out to get you.

Al Capone's Chicago was
much safer then Rahm Emanuel's Chicago, and in Al Capone's Chicago you could buy a Thompson submachine gun for $225 by mail order.
The inquiring mind might wonder -- maybe Chicago's sky-high murder rate doesn't have anything to do with the guns?

48-to-0 No wonder Chicago's so messed up.
Their mayor is bad enough... but every block has its own representative.

Opening a gun shop in Chicago would require a brass set given all the crooked city officials out to get you. They will sell "insurance" to gunshop owners and become their silent partners.
It's the Chicago way.

There already is an ordinance, it contains the words ... shall not be infringed.
What kind of public safety is he worried about? There are already plenty of shootings in Chicago.
Oh, never mind, I get it. He is worried about good guys shooting bad guys.

Who needs a gun shop in Chicago? Evidently there is a trunk full of weapons to pick and choose from if your Garmin works right!

If I'm not mistaken, allowing this shop to open its doors brings the number of gun stores in Chicago to.... 1.

I'm pretty sure they've been doing that since at least the 70's. Your move, Rahmrade.

This comment would be laughably funny, except for the fact their definition of public safety includes 10s of thousands of murdered human beings.
