The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) said it can't provide emails sent between 2009 and 2011 that were requested by congressional investigators because of hard drive crashes.
The agency said that emails stored on dead drives were lost forever because its email backup tapes were recycled every six months, and employees were responsible for keeping their own long-term archives.
The IRS had a contract with email backup service vendor Sonasoft starting in 2005, according to FedSpending.org, which lists the contract as being for "automatic data processing services." Sonasoft's motto is "email archiving done right," and the company lists the IRS as a customer.
In 2009, Sonasoft even sent out a Tweet advertising its work for the IRS...

MSNBC will accept anyone as long as they are left of Stalin and promote the leftist agenda.
Under subpoena, I think they’d have to provide it.
They simply won’t have it.
It will be lost - overwritten, whatever.
How about this? How about we stop the nothings gonna happen meme that dominates this board? I am sure it makes some feel smart and smug. But, that steady stream of demoralizing comments, thread after thread, day after day, is actually aiding and abetting. Someone correct me and defend the strategy of constantly declaring defeat in the midst of the battle.
When Nixon had 18 minutes of tape erased, the media drummed him out of office. If the media is not one-sided, they will do the same thing with Obama. Otherwise, they are in the democrat’s pocket.
Or crash in Iran or have a stroke.
Dave Camp sent an inquiry to Lerner asking about tax exempts on 3 June 2011, her computer was killed by her on 13 June 2011. When she got the letter she knew the jig was up and took a few days to find a way to wipe out the hard drive. The other 6 also crashed the time line here will be very interesting but for sure Lois destroyed evidence.

She made $26,724 per minute not per hour. Let’s not sell this talented news presenter short.
We have one useless congress.
I’m beginning to believe everyone’s in on this except us.
Right, so I covered that in my comment when I said unless they collude with the IRS ...
Send the Congressional Police (heavily armed) to raid the IRS offices and Sonasoft right away.
Make sure they shoot a few dogs as well.
Thanks, jim.

Where did you get the idea that shooting first is useless?
There have been no shots fired.
Nixon lost 18.5 minutes of tape and Republicans forced him to resign.
Obama loses over 6 months of emails from those under investigation and the liberals assist with the stonewalling.
Remember that this November when you go to vote.
Remembering history off the coast of S.C.
Excellent point don-o (imho)
Normally tapes are written over every six months- year, but first they are sent offsite for copy to virtual library. The idea that they simply write over takes every 6 months without first archiving is hard to believe, especially given id the IRS, not joes landscaping. After vendor archives data onto their redundant system. They are sent back to company and go back into production and are recycled every six months or so. This allows admins do restore user data on site if within six months. If beyond six months they procure from offsite location if approved (depending on critical nature of data). If they subpoena the vendor there is no way to completely delete the evidence, including logs, tracking, forsenics of drive and storage systems traffic, purchase orders, employee names, etc.
>>Even IF the contract exists and was in place, they WILL NOT be able to get access to them.<<
So, the NSA has access to every aspect of our lives, but we can’t access the e-mails that are critical to exacting justice. To resurrect a Bush era demand: “Frog-march them out of the White House.”
