It is well established now that Bowe Bergdahl, the Army sergeant for whom Barack Obama traded five top Taliban jihad commanders to get him out of captivity in Afghanistan, is a deserter. But there are also numerous indications that Bergdahl is something even worse: a traitor to the United States of America.
Although the White House continues to ignore the evidence that Bergdahl deserted, every day new revelations make the case increasingly compelling. According to Colonel David Hunt, Bergdahl called his unit the day after he deserted to tell his unit he deserted.
Nathan Bradley Bethea, a former infantry officer who served with Bowe Bergdahl, wrote in the Daily Beast on Monday that Bergdahl was a deserter, and soldiers from his own unit died trying to track him down. Bethea refuted reports that Bergdahl got separated from his unit while on patrol:
Make no mistake: Bergdahl did not lag behind on a patrol, as was cited in news reports at the time. There was no patrol that night. Bergdahl was relieved from guard duty, and instead of going to sleep, he fled the outpost on foot. He deserted. Ive talked to members of Bergdahls platoon including the last Americans to see him before his capture. Ive reviewed the relevant documents. Thats what happened.
Army intelligence several times discovered where Bergdahl was being held, but special forces commanders declined to rescue someone they considered to be a deserter.
The Pentagon concluded the same thing in 2010: Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl walked away from his unit, and after an initial flurry of searching the military decided not to exert extraordinary efforts to rescue him, according to a former senior defense official who was involved in the matter. This official said that the evidence that Bergdahl had deserted was incontrovertible.
But is he a traitor as well? Here are five reasons to think so:
5. The precision of post-desertion IEDs.
Former Army Sgt. Evan Buetow, who served with Bergdahl and was present the night he disappeared, says flatly:
Bergdahl is a deserter, and hes not a hero. He needs to answer for what he did. Even worse, Buetow recounted that days after Bergdahl vanished from the U.S. base, there were reports that he was in a nearby village looking for someone who spoke English, so that he could establish communications with the Taliban. Soon afterward, Buetow recalled, IEDs started going off directly under the trucks. They were getting perfect hits every time. Their ambushes were very calculated, very methodical.
Bergdahl knew where the trucks would be going and when; said Buetow: We were incredibly worried that the Talibans prisoner of war was passing this information on to his captors in order to help them place their bombs most effectively.

4. Defense Department concerns.
The Defense Department was concerned enough about this possibility to launch a full investigation. Fox News reported Monday that Bergdahl both in his final stretch of active duty in Afghanistan and then, too, during his time when he lived among the Taliban has been thoroughly investigated by the U.S. intelligence community and is the subject of a major classified file. In conveying as much, the Defense Department source confirmed to Fox News that many within the intelligence community harbor serious outstanding concerns not only that Bergdahl may have been a deserter but that he may have been an active collaborator with the enemy.

3. His email to his father.
Just days before he left his unit, Bergdahl wrote to his father in somewhat less than patriotic terms: I am sorry for everything here. These people need help, yet what they get is the most conceited country in the world telling them that they are nothing and that they are stupid. He declared: I am ashamed to be an American. And the title of US soldier is just the lie of fools. I am sorry for everything. The horror that is America is disgusting.
His father responded: OBEY YOUR CONSCIENCE! Bergdahl apparently did by deserting and seeking out the Taliban.

2. The note he left behind.
Fox News reported Tuesday that according to sources who had debriefed two former members of Bergdahls unit, the deserter left behind a note the night he left base in which he expressed disillusionment with the Army and being an American and suggested that he wanted to renounce his American citizenship and go find the Taliban.

1. His conversion to Islam and self-description as a mujahid.
The Taliban claimed in 2010 that Bergdahl had converted to Islam and was teaching its jihadists how to make bombs. There is no reason to take anything that Taliban spokesmen say at face value, but secret documents revealed Thursday afternoon corroborate the claim. According to one of these documents, dated August 23, 2012, conditions for Bergdahl have greatly relaxed since the time of the escape. Bergdahl has converted to Islam and now describes himself as a mujahid. Bergdahl enjoys a modicum of freedom, and engages in target practice with the local mujahedeen, firing AK47s. Bergdahl is even allowed to carry a loaded gun on occasion. Bergdahl plays soccer with his guards and bounds around the pitch like a mad man. He appears to be well and happy, and has a noticeable habit of laughing frequently and saying Salaam repeatedly.
Why has none of this been known until now? These secret documents have just been revealed, and Bergdahls fellow American soldiers have just been released from a gag order that threatened them with legal action if they spoke about Bergdahls desertion. Why the cover-up? Did the Obama administration want to spare itself the embarrassment, after Fort Hood jihad mass murderer Major Nidal Hasan and his would-be imitator, Pfc. Naser Abdo, of yet another Muslim soldier turning traitor?
The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Martin Dempsey, has said that its premature to assume that Bergdahl will not be investigated. Still, although it would be the just and proper thing to investigate Bergdahl for both desertion and treason, it does seem unlikely that he will be investigated for either. Such an investigation would embarrass the Obama administration even more than it has been already and the mainstream media will do all it can to make sure that such humiliation is kept to an absolute minimum. John Boehner, for his part, will just burst into tears and give Obama whatever he wants.
To investigate, much less to try Bowe Bergdahl, despite the fact that evidence of his misconduct continues to mount, would require an honest president, a robust opposition party, and a media determined to uncover the truth. Strike one, strike two, strike three.

Remember, the White House was presented with far more extensive and detailed information than this by the DoD about this guy.
They knew EXACTLY what Bergdahl did when they used him as an excuse to release the top tier of the Taliban leadership back into the fight.
This is a 1-5 screw against America by our own president, who then went off to chew gum while representing America before the world at the D-Day celebrations.
It’s hard to even take in that this is happening. It’s mind-boggling, in fact.
One of Bergdahl’s fellow Soldiers said on The Kelly File that a patrol was sent out very quickly after Bergdahl left. He said that they hadn’t gone 10 feet when two Afghan boys told them that there was an American crawling through the weeds. Why was he crawling? He was crawling because he was trying to get away from the American Soldiers without being seen and brought back. He wasn’t out looking for butterflies. He was deserting.
I was EXTREMELY skeptical of “Michael Hastings was murdered” but I am much more receptive to that theory now.
6.) Was praised by the Obama Regime.
He is a private. He was promoted on the assumption that he was captured. He left his post without permission. He IS NOT A SERGEANT.
Number 6. He refuses to speak the Devil tongue English.
Number 7. He has not been reported to have said anything following his “release” even romotely hinting that he is happy about his current situation or thankful to be “home”.
Perhaps Bergdahl was on a mission to help the Taliban kill as many U.S. troops as possible. Was he working on behalf of a rogue pro-Islamic element within one of our 3 letter agencies?? State Department, maybe?? Is this what Michael Hastings was uncovering in his investigation??
HOORAY Robert Spencer! Post/thread BUMP!
when I served -69-77 I noticed that we could start out on a mission—and on occasion intel would come in and the Mission would change—the objectives would change. now these indications are all seemingly REASONABLE—AND THATBBOTHERS ME THE OTHER SIDE DOESN’T HAVE MUCH RESPECT FOR REASON.

I think the Taliban forced Bergdahl to leave against his will because he wanted to stay. They had to drug him into a stupor to get him to go along with it.
Our Linguine with Shrimp Scampi spined Congress as well as the Senate need to be completely replaced. I believe the Terrorist(s) in the oval office have a dream of declaring Martial Law on the U.S., flushing the Constitution, and kicking doors in after midnight every night.
He’ll soon be a Staff Sergeant, E-6. Makes me want to burn my Spec. 6 insignia.
8. He is now on a clandestine mission on behalf of his jihadis.
9. On his return, I’ve watched several times a photo where he is wiping away tears while sitting in a vehicle. You can bet that if those were tears of joy, a microphone would have been in his face instantly.
The Taliban are laughing their asses off at our Clown Prince.
They traded a low level deserting turncoat for Five high level dedicated terrorist generals.
They probably got at least $10 million in hidden ransom payments on top of it.
And they can undo the Drone King in one press release anytime they want by just publishing the real details of this trade.
If Obama paid even a nickle in ransom to effectuate this deal, then his rule is over. The Taliban has him by the short hairs and they know it.
I sent the following letter to a friend who isn’t military who asked my opinion about the bergdahl swap. I wrote the following:
Hi J___,
Most telling of all, for anyone whos ever been around the military is the fact that every single one of PFC Bergdahls squad mates all know and say that he deserted. They are unanimous. All of them say that others died looking for the guy. They say they dont know his motives, and theyd like to ask him why he did it, but they are certain that he left without authority deserted
As far as swapping him for 5 high level Taliban commanders, that would be like the US in World War II swapping 5 Nazi generals we held in captivity for ONE United States PFC. (Bergdahl was a PFC when he deserted. The only reason he was promoted while away is because absent further evidence the military assumed he was a POW, and regulations require POWs be promoted automatically. But, he was a PFC when he deserted.)
We NEVER would have swapped 5 generals for one PFC in WWII .or any other war weve ever fought.
This notion that we dont leave people behind is also not a true statement of what is actually practiced. We have had huge numbers of POWs in the past who were not swapped for and were only released at the end of wars. Its just a fact. Will units try hard and heroically to recover their dead and wounded friends? Absolutely. But that is different than saying it is US military policy. For example, if a platoon has a mission of being a decoy so an effective attack can be launched by an entire division, should the lieutenant sacrifice the entire platoon to recover the body of a dead team member, or should he complete his critical mission that if not completed will result in an entire division of soldiers being put at risk? Obviously, his mission is what is critical. Hopefully, in the aftermath, they can recover their dead comrade, but at the critical moment of decision the mission overrides. Thats always been the way it is.
So, this terrible decision will return 5 generals to the Taliban. These men will get involved again in fighting America, and they will kill more of our own. It is a stunningly bad decision.
Faith,
S___
If Ø paid a ransom?
Like WHO the h311 is going to do anything about it?
