BRUSSELS Defense and intelligence officials told senators at a classified briefing on Wednesday that they kept secret from Congress the pending swap of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl for five Taliban prisoners because they feared for his life if the deal became public, a senior administration official said Thursday.
The Senators were told, separate and apart from Sgt. Bergdahls apparent deterioration in health, that we had both specific and general indications that Sgt. Bergdahls recovery and potentially his life could be jeopardized if the detainee exchange proceedings were disclosed or derailed, the official said in a statement.
Several senators said Thursday that officials in the classified briefing justified the presidents decision to swap Sergeant Bergdahl for the Taliban prisoners by suggesting that quick action was needed to save his life.

So what.
Yeah, and that guy that bombed the Pan Am flight was dying of cancer “any day now.” If I recall he’s still alive living the high life after they released him?
I’d hate to be a soldier in Afghanistan right now if I were black. Those would be the prisoners the president would prefer to exchange because any inquiry on the matter would be “Racist”.
So how many lives are not at stack by releasing these terrorists? How many soldiers did we loose that tried to find him?
White House releases an absurd talking point, the Mainstream Ministry of Misinformation dutifully aggregates.
Is that what we're supposed to think that Obama was doing, being the super negotiator and protector of troops by day, party-going president at night?

Bergdahl was just the vehicle used to accomplish the re-equipping of the Taliban with the leadership needed to take over Afghanistan once US combat forces leave that country.
Consultation with the US Senate was bypassed because then this deal would have been shot down and there may not have been enough time left to empty Gitmo.
That was the goal of this prisoner swap. I am guessing that if Bergdahl had not agreed to come home, yes, then his life was in danger.
The rate of detainees leaving Gitmo will only increase until there are none left there.
We have met the enemy. He is us...
The New York Times plays the fool for dems... once again... maybe they’ll win another ‘prize’. Guess the Times needs something to make up for throwing away the respect and trust of their readers.

0 never once thought about the blood spilled he never does!
This was a narcissist move thinking the Nation would praise him!
He is not a leader of Men but a squander-er, that has no ties to the sacrifice made by those that honored their service to this Country, but willing to bargain for an insignificant rat that sold his soul and country to a league of killers!

SQUIRREL!
300,000 and six.
I read these terrorists sent 300,000 of their own people fleeing to refugee camps before we captured them. And six solders died trying to rescue Bergdahl.
The latest “spin”.
They’re trying to go for some damage control now. I heard on the news that he’s in Germany and only talking to military personnel. Hasn’t even talked to his parents yet. Probably won’t let him talk to anyone until he can lie convincingly.

Answer from administration, "immediate"
Press, "thank you"
Yah, in danger like...yah, we’ll kill the deserter unless you free at least 5 of our taliban terrorist buddies.
The juxtaposition between the NYT and Fox stories is amazing.
He’s the one that decided to walk away from camp and the protection of the US military that he despised so much. So we had to put more lives on the line to rescue his sorry a$$.
It should have been in immediate danger - from drones or US troops.
So this is what, the third “official,” “REAL” story of the government?
Anybody else notice that this has taken the VA off the front burner? Anyone else think this may have been the reason for this “bungled” operation? That and since the worst of the Club Gitmo detainees are gone, why not get rid of the rest?
