Obama is Not a Socialist
capitalismmagazine.com ^ | 5/31/2014 | Thomas Sowell

Posted on 06/02/2014 7:13:20 AM PDT by rktman

What President Obama has been pushing for, and moving toward, is more insidious: government control of the economy, while leaving ownership in private hands. That way, politicians get to call the shots but, when their bright ideas lead to disaster, they can always blame those who own businesses in the private sector.

It appears we are quibbling over whether the attack is defined as rape or sexual assault. The victim may be hard pressed to know the difference.

Obama is Not a Socialist

Yes he is!

Many people confuse where Obama is with where Obama is going.

The different labels also cause confusion for many folks. I think this stems from the fact they don't know what Americanism is. That makes it difficult to readily spot the primary differences between Americanism and Socialism, Communism, Fascism, etc.

The primary difference is property rights.

And what is our system? It is becoming more state-controlled, and farther from the distinctively American free system. Yet it isa not ideologically pure communism; nor is it strongly nationalistic. I would call it, in view of recent acts by the current administration, “idiotic socialism.” I know that this sounds unfriendly and confrontational, but how else can one out it?

I think fascism is the best label to describe what Obama is doing. Notice how so many corporate TV commercials now seem to contain a subtle genuflection to liberal, statist pieties like “diversity” and “inclusiveness”? Notice how so many corporations now become involved in politically correct social causes? They have gotten the message that you must be seen to be playing along with the government in order to thrive or avoid some sort of investigation.

with only minor differences

I agree.

The minor differences are indeed minor when compared to the major difference between the oppressive methods of government and Americanism.

Socialist, Marxist, Communist, Fascist, all mean the same thing with only minor differences.

Ask people like my parents who escaped the socialist/communist utopia or it's expansion what they call obamaramadingdong, they have the reality of experience in identifying him.

Before he was elected, I saw him as a fascist. That was not difficult. One only had to listen to his, and especially Michelle’s, speeches in 2008, to see what they intended to do. They are ruthless and uncaring. They are narcissists and hold petty feigned grievances against the world for anything and everything. They do not believe that they need to answer for anything and they really believe they are above us all. These kind surround themselves with like-minded people. Sadly, it is the state of our culture today that welcomes this and sees no problem with them. Let’s be honest here. Some people are willing to rally around certain issues, but most will not sign on to impeachment against this administration because they are not willing to get their hands dirty and don’t want the IRS on their backs. So, we play along to get along, just hoping the damage is not too great.

One aspect of the march towards Nazism that has always interested me was the cultural decadence of the Weimar period that immediately preceded the rise of the Nazis. It was an era of loss of religious faith, nihilist philosophy, and widespread hedonism of all varieties (prostitution, homosexuality, racy theatre, etc.). So I’ve wondered if Nazism embodied these things or tried to provoke a reaction against them. Or did the Left support all those cultural tendencies with the idea of provoking a reaction from the Right, and got more than they bargained for? Or was the whole thing just a semi-conscious or unconscious cultural suicide?

Not to mention the “fear” of being labeled as a racist. Got nothing to do with race from my viewpoint. It wouldn’t matter if the same agenda was being sought and achieved by a “white” POtuS. Scum bags/socialists/commies/fascits/libs come in all colors, shapes and sizes.

Obama, and Holder, are also transnationalizing-socialists pushing for transnational jurisprudence *over* our Constitution, *over* our country, and *over* our lives.

Obama is a fascist with an obsession over race/ethnicity.

Sound familiar?

Technically Mr. Sowell has made some points. However, Obama is closer with socialists, Marxists and commies than he is with free market capitalists.

Obama is Not a Socialist!

No, he is the result of mixing affirmative action and on-the-job training. Doesn’t know what he is doing and is too much of an egotist to learn.

fascist works for me. A different kind of socialist. Most would-be commies today are in fact fascists....because they know full well they cannot live their royal lifestyles under real communist economic policies. Much better to preach socialism and be a parasite.

"He’s America’s first Muslim Dictator."

My view is that he's an atheist sympathetic to Islam - not for Islam's religious beliefs - but because Islam represents a strong anti-Americanism that might dovetail with some of Obama's own goals.

You're on the right track...and your post is getting no replies because your scenario makes partisan politics and much of FR's stated mission worthless. Why spend precious time and money only to elect the cartels' "other" guy?

For precision, I would say that the idea that the cartels control the Wall Street banks is the tail wagging the dog - drug money is a highly useful tool to international bankers, but drug cartels and national governments are ultimately their creations and persist only at their sufferance. The money supplies of nations are firmly in their hands, and they make the rules. Perhaps only Putin stands outside this international order, but even he appears to bend to their wishes more often than not.

The mission of the liberty movement therefore must be to carve out realms of influence within which people can survive and even thrive, rather than to try to topple the established order - which is impossible, anyway. The danger posed by Obama and the Alinskyites is that they are rapidly shrinking America's once rather large and well-established realm of influence for its middle class in the interest of short-term political expediency and cash - grabbing what money and power they can now regardless of what kind of mess they leave behind for future generations.

The international bankers don't seem to care too much what Obama does as long as their primary dictates are respected (and he never crosses those lines, like Bush and Clinton before him), but the damage he is doing to America's middle class quality of life is likely to be permanent.
