Americans' support for the law recognizing same-sex marriages as legally valid has increased yet again, now at 55%. Marriage equality advocates have had a string of legal successes over the past year, most recently this week in Pennsylvania and Oregon where federal judges struck down bans on gay marriage. Two successive Gallup polls in 2012 saw support climb from 53% to 54%, indicating a steady but slight growth in acceptance of gay marriages over the past year after a more rapid increase between 2009 and 2011. In the latest May 8-11 poll, there is further evidence that support for gay marriage has solidified above the majority level. This comes on the heels of gay marriage proponents' 14th legal victory in a row.

Don’t ever be under the illusion that as a minority you’ll receive any State protection.
That dude has like ... 10 fingers on his right hand...
Another victory for you people.
So sodomy is “marriage?” I thought it was sodomy.
Talk about spiritual blindness... God help us.
-— My God, I couldnt believe how the media celebrated for an entire week. -—
According to Beck today, this is orchestrated by Media Matters.
Glenn said that the Blaze has attempted to buy several cable networks, and when they find out that he is the buyer, they back out. It’s not about money.
I have to admit to being shocked. It’s like he’s been blacklisted.
Another fake poll. What was the sample? What was the question and how was it worded? What is the voter breakdown?
Thanks. It is a misleading question. I think the “with the same rights as traditional marriages” changes the general question.
That is for sure. However, being an adherent of Judeo-Christian Western Culture I do not need their protection. They need my protection and productivity. Neither of which they will get a bit of anymore.
“That’s the truth. The ballot box is the only poll that matters. And they have lost over and over in that poll.”
Actually, that’s not true. They’ve won the last four times it appeared on a ballot and that’s after a decade of the votes getting closer and closer as the majority of America slowly slid to their side.
We lost the argument because we stopped paying attention. We can’t afford to lose the next issue the same way, whatever that issue turns out to be.
Yep. Just keep telling yourself that...
Yep. I think if it were on the ballots today, gay marriage would pass in half the states. Though we'll probably never get to find out. There's not really any reason anymore for gay marriage proponents to go through the trouble of raising money to rally voters when judges are passing their agenda with the strike of a gavel.
Exactly. They don’t need to spend the money or time on public votes anymore. And judges don’t need to worry about “getting ahead” of the public since the American people are already there.
Again, I hope we can learn from this. They controlled the message, talking about “love”, “responsibility” and “commitment” while we were screaming “faggots!” at each other, content in the knowledge that our position would always be the dominant one in America.. We need to do better next time.
I disagree. These judges are overturning the majority of voters in those states.
If you did a poll asking “should the state constitution define marriage as one man and one woman?” I’ll bet it would bet over 60%.
This poll as asked is wishy and misleading and leads those polled to a “fairness” issue. Well, most people will vote “I agree” when it comes to fairness.
And what was the voter breakdown in the poll? How many did they call? Poll of anyone or voters? Registered or likely?
How many would answer what they thought the pollster wanted to hear?
