News quiz: President Obama and his communications team hope that Americans are: 1) Dumb; 2) Distracted; 3) Numb to government inefficiency; 4) All of above.
Answer: 4, all of the above.
Those are the most obvious explanations for why the White House thought it could get away with claiming that the departure of Veterans Affairs official Dr. Robert Petzel was a step toward accountability for its scandalous treatment of war veterans.
Fact is, the department announced in 2013 that Petzel would retire this year.
"Well, Secretary Shinseki accepted Dr. Petzel's resignation this afternoon. He was due to retire early next month and obviously there has been a nomination made for his replacement," White House chief of staff Dennis McDonough told CBS's Major Garrett last week. "I leave to Rick the explanation of his decision, but there is no question that this is a termination of his job there before he was planning to go."
No. This was neither a termination nor a housecleaning. It was a scapegoating. For all of its 21st-century savvy in the field of campaign technology, the Obama White House has repeatedly proven that its communications philosophy is stuck in the 20th century. Before the internet gave voters instantaneous access to information, including every public utterance of the president and his team, White House strategists could hope to wear out the truth: If you said a lie enough, people might believe it.
It's harder to BS the public these days. White House press secretary Jay Carney still tries. On Monday, he repeatedly suggested that the American Legion had praised the move.

Funny question... especially since it comes from one of his biggest enablers.
Well, the idiots and parasites who voted for him are all of the above.
“...For all of its 21st-century savvy in the field of campaign technology, the Obama White House has repeatedly proven that its communications philosophy is stuck in the 20th century...”
Actually, the Obama administration’s communications philosophy is stuck in the Fourteenth Century—the King lies and people are stuck with the lies.
Well,I Think That Question Is EASILY Answered!Who Is The Current”Inhabitant” of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave and How Long Has He been There?I Hope This “Answers”The Question???
Obama doesn’t care. What Obama knows is that that the media will transcribe without challenge. So, if Jay Carney says in spite of the problems, the VA is better than it’s ever been, and Obama is working miracles... that’s what will be reported. And the public is all that Obama hopes it is, distracted, stupid and numb. The public will believe what is reported.
We are a very badly divided country.
Anyone who ran a silly campaign based on platitudes and silly slogans such as “hope and changes” and “yes we can”....well...
Like I said from day one...He’s the Music Man.
They voted for him twice, so that pretty much says how dumb they are.
RULE 11: The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative. Never let the enemy score points because youre caught without a solution to the problem.
Obama is stupid and lazy.
He believes we are much stupider and lazier than he.
Ron Fournier wrote this? I’m shocked.
Here is the BS test... Does he get his full retirement benefits? If so, then he is just a visible scapegoat.
If he is truly FIRED the he is being kicked out, his office locked, and he is not allowed in it again except to get personal items while under guard.
What’s it going to be?
As dumb as he is?
Its easy to BS the public when the media is on your side and echos whatever lies you want them to.
On top of that, most of the country is clueless, gullible and quite easily misled. Look at the daily barrage of idiotic advertisements; companies run them because they work. Clearly, the more ridiculous and insulting they are, the more sales they generate.
Politicians have observed this phenomena and take full advantage of it. The sheeple get what they deserve.
By definition, all Left-Wing Liberals think that anybody who attends church regularly, owns a gun or espouses traditional values has an IQ of less than 47.
The VA hospital system didn’t just suddenly get bad overnight or even in the last 5 years. No, it has been horribly inefficient and poorly run for decades and it isn’t going to get better as long as it is run by government bureaucrats. I read yesterday that it takes months to see a cardiologist at the VA and that the cardiologists see only two patients per day. And they wonder why there is a backlog.
Privatize the VA and it will not only save money, it will save lives.
The 2008 and 2012 elections provided the answer.
Gallactically Stupid. And in general...he's right.
