Hannity had some kind of blow-up with his carrier in New York, didn’t he? I imagine when that all shakes out that Savage will be back in his own weird little niche.
These are NOT “actual numbers.” If you look at the source, they are “estimates” and “analysis.”
I do not believe for a second that Hannity’s audience is nearly the size of Rush’s. This is the same magazine that announced that Dr. Laura’s ratings were higher than Rush’s. Everyone waited until the next ratings came out to see that it was nonsense.
Rush’s running joke since before time is the “MaHa Rushdie” thing, that’s “on loan from God.”
It’s all humor.
Savage, on the other hand, really is a narcissist. And, I tend not to like stage names instead of folks using their real names.
Just his choosing the name “savage” says something about his narcissism. It’s not his real name.
I’m curious if something is going on with Levin as well.
He seems different.
Savage might want to look over his shoulder..the latest round of people meter ratings show WOR is now beating WABC on Long Island, the New Jersey suburbs and Westchester County, though WABC still leads in the city. Probably the first time in 20 years WOR has beaten WABC in all three suburban markets, which in many respects, are more desirable demographically than the city.
The PPMs were taken over the last month and they are considered very accurate...what is unclear is whether the audience figures for all the hosts were tallied after 1 January, when Savage moved to the afternoon. With Sean moving to some weaker affiliates in places like Chicago, he has definitely lost some listeners. But the ratings explosion of Michael Savage has not materialized

Talkers is not so unprofessional as you’ve been told. They compile the Arbitron data....the Nielsen....data and use it as the basis of their decision while adding other data and impressions.
Arbitron is based on actual survey info.
Its all humor.

I like the humor part of Rush, especially the MaHa Rushdie thing. Rush takes an extraordinary amount of time to make a point because of his self aggrandizement. I do not mind that, but he goes on and on.
Stage names are common, does not bother me that Savage uses a stage name. Maybe he did it to start out, not worth the effort to change.
Amazing numbers for Levin since his show airs during the dinner hour in the east...when most are watching the B.S. TV news.
Good links. Thanks. I clicked on the ACLJ link and it came up quickly and completely.
I’ve been listening to talk radio for 25 years or so. Planet is THE BEST. Truly in a league of his own. Steyn is a distant second.
Years and years ago when I listened to Rush, I often heard him say that he had something like 20 million listeners. Either he has experienced one heck of a loss of listeners or he was lying.
Most welcome!
There’s a third possibility: my memory was wrong.
I posted this yesterday. http://newsbusters.org/blogs/jeffrey-lord/2014/05/17/savage-hemorrhages-hannity-s-audience-new-york-s-wabc-loses-50-chicago
Do you have figures showing if Limbaugh or Hannity lost listeners since their station moves?
Has Savage always been around 5.5 million?
Savage sucks.
Herman Cain is great.
I’m with you, OP - for I thought I remember hearing that Rush’s audience was in the 20M+ range.
He's the best sub-host Rush has. Probably the best anyone has. I'll listen when he subs. Anyone else, well, I'll tune in when Rush gets back.
Oops, I didn’t see you had posted this already as I was formatting mine. I’ve asked a mod to delete my duplicate. :-)
