Republican Senators Ted Cruz, Rand Paul and Marco Rubio get thrown around a lot as possible GOP presidential candidates for 2016. One prominent Republican who does not get mentioned much in that context is Rep. Peter King (R-NY). But during one of his frequent interview with CNNs Wolf Blitzer Friday, King said he is seriously considering making a run at the nomination, if only to prevent those younger, more right-wing candidates from becoming president.
Asked by Blitzer about his 2016 plans, King said hes certainly looking at the possibility, which will include a trip to New Hampshire next month. He said when he ran into Hillary Clinton yesterday he told her to get ready.
Im looking at this because I see people like Rand Paul and Ted Cruz, and to me, I dont want the Republican Party going in that direction, King said. Whether its him or someone else, he said he would do what he can to make sure the realistic foreign policy wing or national security wing of the party does not give in to the isolationists.
Rep. King has clashed with the younger generation of Republicans repeatedly over the last several years, recently saying Sen. Paul would make a disastrous president and acting as the leading critic of the Sen. Cruz-led government shutdown last fall.

He would take votes away from NJ’s donut eating king. He won’t touch Cruz but Paul is becoming more of a leftist every day.
People like King are the reason America is getting its ass kicked right now by Barry and his extreme left wing of the ‘RAT party.
He might need to protect Michael Grimm or Gerry Adams in prison.
I think they made a major error in the article, they identified King as a Republican, is there no accuracy in journalism? That’s Peter King, RINO-NY.

He and Huntsman can vie for the .01% vote
How exactly would this clown “prevent” Cruz or Paul from running or winning?
Quite the opposite, with him and Jeb Bush out there - it would create even more appeal for Tea Party candidates.
Choke on a piece of pork....bloated pig...
Hellfar, boy. Drag around a Texas parking lot on the end of a chain hooked up to a F150. Shut that boy right up!

Peter is a dick.
“How exactly would this clown prevent Cruz or Paul from running or winning?”
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
I have a feeling he means he would run as a third party candidate.
Hillary (Democrat), Cruz (Republican), and King (Loser).
He would rather see Hillary as President than Cruz, Paul, or Palin, and he’d love to be in a debate moderated by his buddy Wolf Blitzer.
What happened to Peter King? His principles used to be intact, as far as I could tell.
So the thinks that the likes of Ted Cruz is part of the problem? Time to retire Pete.
How is splitting the RINO vote going to hurt Cruz?
This is a good thing.
I want many, many more RINO’s running in the primary for the republican nod.
The more the merrier.
Then we are assured a conservative will win the ticket and thus the Presidency.
Peter if you did run, you might split the RINO votes.
King wouldn’t be in it to win. He’d be in it to trash Cruz and Paul.
I agree with him on Rand Paul. Rand had the WHITE HOUSE in the palm of his hand when he went after drones and government spying...but then gave it all back with his new priorities - giving felons the right to vote, opposing voter ID, and pushing for Amnesty.
