Here's a riddle: Many Republicans deny it's happening. Some Democrats don't want to talk about it. What is it?
The answer is the growing U.S. economy, on pace to expand as much as 3.5 percent this year, about the best performance in the industrialized world. Unemployment has fallen from 10 percent to about 6.3 percent and consumer confidence is at a six-year high.
Better economic data could help persuade voters in November to look past President Barack Obama's weak approval ratings and his unpopular healthcare law and give Democrats enough lift to hold onto the Senate and limit their losses in the House, political strategists said.

“Just because the MSM says its so doesnt mean its the truth, especially if you look at the reported findings in context.”
When the MSM says anything, 1) you can assume it isn’t true, and 2) you have to decipher what they are attempting to accomplish with it.
Rising U.S. economy could help Democrats stave off election loss

Wishful thinking.
And it's only that good because of massively increased spending on health care insurance caused by Obamacare.
They probably under reported so they can report a snap back right before the election. They are sending out the message early to their minions, “Don’t worry, when the time comes we will lie—again—big time. Get ready to jump back on the bandwagon and save our fellow commie RATS.”
This administration is never runs out of lies.
The author of this article is taunting us with his reckless drug use. His supplier must be the CIA.
Horse crap.
“Improving economy”?
If you look at the percentage of folks who’ve stopped looking cause there ain’t no jobs you understand this economy sucks,
Just more LIES from obammy and company
I see more economic activity where I am...... The Federal Reserve has been fast n furiously pumping money into it for five years. What do you expect?
This is another Federal Reserve bubble. Not a genuine organic healthy increase in economic activity
Whistling past the graveyard.
0.1% GDP.
Lowest labor force participation rate since 1978.
Record gas prices.
Record food stamps.
Record long term unemployment.
Yep. Improving economy.
If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we’d all have a Merry Christmas (and the Democrats would avoid an election blowout in November).
“They aren’t even policing their own lies any more.”
If they keep repeating the lies, they will become the truth
and affect election outcomes.
Progressive spinning never stops.
IMHO
In 1992 James Carville orchestrated a brilliant spin campaign about an improving economy to help Bill Clinton defeat George H.W. Bush. Through talking points and media spin an economic recovery was positioned as the worst economy since the Great Depression. George H.W. Bush’s team was unable to defend itself.
Fast forward to the 2012 election. For some reason Mitt Romney and his handlers failed to pound home the economic message in a truly abysmal economy. Now we are in 2014 with more working age Americans unemployed than at any time in our history, food, health care and energy costs skyrocketing under Democrat policies, low interest rates crushing the savings of the elderly, large numbers of Americans shifted from full time to insecure part time employment, and entire industries under assault by regulatory authors.
Where is the Republican drumbeat about the worst economy since the Great Depression? Silence. It is the perfect issue to resonate with millions of working Americans scared they will lose their jobs or they cannot make ends meet due to inflation. Instead of pouncing on the issue they are letting Obama control the economic issue through demands for an increase in the minimum wage as well as false claims his policies have created 9 million jobs.
A unified party, pounding the ruling party for its abysmal economic performance as well as the healthcare debacle should win in a walk. However, the Republican establishment has no message and seems determined to let the ruling party control the conversation. Unless the Republicans come up with a message and communications strategy 2014 will be another lost opportunity, like 2012.
“Really? cut off unemployment benefits and see the actual rate. Many people on the benefits aren’t looking for work and thus not counted.”
Exactly. The U-6 unemployment measure (the way it used to be counted) is over 15%.
The other misleading thing that’s often not considered is that most of the “new jobs” are the minimum wage McDonald’s type, and often not even full-time.
I think most folk are seeing through the lies by now...they’re out there seeing it firsthand every day, despite whatever BS the media is selling.
(It’s also pretty funny that among young adults, trust in government is at an all-time low. The only thing that’s lower is their trust in traditional media.)
“I have 2 relatives laid off in the last month. One a 10 yr. employee. The other a 28 year.’
Good luck with that. it’s a tough environment out there, particularly for seasoned workers.
but......
You miss the point.
with
Record gas prices.
Record food stamps.
Record long term unemployment.
The curves of the things you noted are peaked. Any decline from the peak is indicative of Happy Times Are Here Again.......
We will hear nothing but trumpets of joy heralding the declines from the max. The declines will be bogus, but those that want to believe in Happy times will .
The lies will continue..... tenfold
The equivalent of a two-year old with chocolate all over her face saying she didn’t eat that candy.

An excellent and perceptive post. The Republicans can’t even seem to attack on the lack of full-time work due to 0care and its 30 hour minimum.
We need a giant infusion of energy from the Tea Party. The Establishment Republicans can take a hike.
hasn’t the +0.1 revised to -0.3?
when 0failure took office, we had 142m tax filers. today, we’ve got 132m and more people
when 0failure took office, the average household income was $55k. today, it’s around $43k and everything has doubled in price (effectively reducing the $43k to $21.5k)
there is no measurement that can show improvement at any level
as a country, we’ve all moved quite a bit closer to detroit
What is the matter with the people on this site?
The economy IS growing, and by a lot more than .1%. Maybe something like 2% this year.
Proof? Simple. Actual, collected withholding and income taxes are up about 7% year-over-year. Fact. Withholding taxes aren’t paid over to the feds unless they have to be because the employment and the associated withholding took place. Don’t believe it? See the daily Treasury reports.
Why is that? Because the underlying U.S. economy is so strong and resilient that it can resist and overcome even the worst that the sh!tbags in the jug-ears administration can throw at it. And they’ve thrown an amazing amount of crap at it in the last 5 years.
The DJIA just made a new all-time high. Why? The market is discounting the wholesale slaughter of Democrats in November and a probable Republican win in 2016. The pain of what will be 8 years of BS from jug-ears is slowly coming to an end and it’s starting to become obvious.
Will a semi-decent economy, still recovering at a pitiful rate relative to what it should be benefit Democrats in November? Not a chance.
Joe 6-pack understands that he’s not better off. Capital investment sucks, new business creation sucks, job creation consists mostly of relatively low-pay jobs, and unemployment is down only because people have left the labor force. People are sick and tired of 5 years of failed liberal crapola.
The era of BS is about to end and the market is saying so. Reality is that the 2% growth economy will improve once it’s clear that jug-ears has been totally neutered in November.
But, that’s no reason to deny that this economy is currently expanding and has been for years — even though it’s at half the rate (or less) than it should be. Our economy is capable of withstanding much more than one passing totally clueless moron in the White House.
