With Hillary Clinton almost assuredly running for president in 2016, Monica Lewinsky‘s Vanity Fair piece today set off a lot of people’s conspiratorial alarm bells, with some suspicion anti-Clinton forces might have been behind it. But on The O’Reilly Factor tonight, Lynne Cheney suggested it might have actually been pushed by Clinton’s team themselves.
Guest host Laura Ingraham talked with Cheney about liberal attacks on the Bush administration, and Cheney briefly addressed it before pivoting to Lewinsky’s piece and making an observation. She said, “I really wonder if this isn’t an effort on the Clintons’ part to get that story out of the way. Would Vanity Fair publish anything of Monica Lewinsky that Hillary Clinton wouldn’t want in Vanity Fair?”
Cheney pointed out that Rand Paul had been bringing up Monicagate earlier this year and looked like it would be a big issue further on, so, she said, maybe the Clintons are “getting it out of the way” so they can call it “old news” by the time 2016 comes around.

Does anyone think a liberal rag like Vanity Fair would have published such an interview without Hillary’s OK?
I absolutely believe that Vanity Fair gives Hillary veto power over any article that they would publish.
Nothing get past the Clintons without being analyzed through their political calculus, IMO.
I can see Cankles letting this pass, just so it DOES get played out now, ahead of the grind of the campaign. I don’t thing Cheney is off the mark at all.
I think Hillary’s idea wasn’t about getting this out of the way before 2016, it was about getting Benghazi out of the way right NOW!

The majority of the American people like Bubba. Last poll on his favorability rating was 71%.
The majority of Americans wouldn’t trust WJC to babysit their teenage daughter.

How does it help hillary? hillary’s a hag, and Monica Lewinsky is now a beautiful woman. I think it adds to the suspicion that hillary let Bill play, as long as she could have the power and prestige. The fake women’s libber nazis might say “poor hillary”, but normal women not so much. Normal woman know you have to keep yourself appealing to keep a guy.
It helps with Hillary's war on women meme. She was poised to be attacked because Bill blatantly took advantage of a naive young intern with stars in her eyes and then attacked her when the story came out. so here comes Monica saying Bill did't exploit or take advantage of her, it was all consensual, and the big blue meanie was thet evil internet where all the right wing conspirators hang out. It was the right wing republicans that harassed and humiliated her because they are waging a war against women. Hillary was going to have to deal with the Monicagate issue eventually, better now than having it as a distraction during the campaign season.
