Jenny Beth Martin of Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund just emailed out defeat (Tough Night) in the North Carolina Republican Primary for U.S. Senate.
But a strange situation is developing:
Only 14.37% of ballots have been counted, even though 90.53% of precincts reporting.
http://enr.ncsbe.gov/ElectionResults/?election_dt=05/06/2014
Those who are not looking at the official results from the State of North Carolina, may misunderstand. Anyone seeing that 90.53% of precincts have reported will assume that the results are reasonably final.
But in fact, only 936,123 out of 6,516,126 ballots have been counted.
That means the biggest precincts have not reported.
It appears likely that the Republican establishment backed Candidate Thom Tillson will get the 40% needed to win the 7-way primary without facing a run-off in June.
Tillson is currently bouncing around between 44% and 45.5%.
However, it is way too early to say for sure.

There are not 6 million ballots from a state with 10 million people.
It’s a primary and turnout was low. You are misconstruing.
I am not construing.
I am only repeating what the North Carolina State Board of Elections has posted on its website for results — that only 14.52% of ballots have been counted as of 10:43 PM.
Now, maybe their results are screwed up on their website.
But they are as official as it gets.
So until they either report more accurately or update information, we should wait until the data is reported more clearly.
hehe
Blog pimp.
Ya get what ya click for!
It says “cast”, not counted. It represents turnout, I think.
There is no stat labeled “ballots counted” as far as I can see.
Not so. The RINO sweetheart deal with their pals across the aisle is not limited to Washington, DC.
You need to learn electoral counting before commenting.
There are only 1.9 million Republicans in NC so 900k would be about 50% if that is really the reality. But typically in primaries they get very low turnouts so 14% would represent closer to 100% of the actual turnout in this election.
Yep.
One million Republican primary voters in a presidential year, and half that number in an off year. 500k total votes wouldn’t be far off.
With 97% of precincts reporting 480,059 Republicans voted.
Thom Tillis 219,242 45.67%
Greg Brannon 130,096 27.10%
Mark Harris 84,636 17.63%
Heather Grant 22,539 4.70%
Jim Snyder 9,272 1.93%
Ted Alexander 9,019 1.88%
Alex Lee Bradshaw 3,457 0.72%
Edward Kryn 1,798 0.37%
Total: 480,059
Clay Aiken has very narrowly avoided a runoff.
US HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES DISTRICT 02 - DEM (VOTE FOR 1)
Clay Aiken 11,634 40.83 %
Keith Crisco 11,265 39.54 %
Toni Morris 5,593 19.63 %
Clay always likes being close to Crisco.
Correct. You are misconstruing.
but that would spoil the blogpimp!
That's a good omen for November and a good number for a primary in OK. They'll surely be over 500K.
I have no idea who the "American Uncensored News Network" is. But I don't see a good future for them.
This is easily the most idiotic thing I've ever seen posted on Free Republic, and I've been here for a while.
If there were over six million ballots cast in the North Carolina Republican Senate Primary, then I'm the Pope.
And you'd think, wouldn't you, that this "news" site could get the name of our Senate nominee right? It's Thom Tillis. Not Tillson, Tillis.
He'll be a strong candidate, and if the race goes as I hope it will, a great Senator.
