Newly revealed documents cast a doubtful glare on where exactly Republican Mississippi Sen. Thad Cochran calls home.
The documents, as first reported by Breitbart, show that since 2003, Cochran repeatedly lists an address owned by an aide as his primary residence. His campaign claimed that his primary residence was instead a self-described cabin in Oxford, MS, but on formal documents, Cochran identified that residence in 2006 and 2010 as a second home.
The primary residence that Cochran lists in D.C. is located near the Capitol and is an apartment in an austere row-house condominium. The owner of the home is listed as his executive assistant, Kay Webber. Cochrans campaign says the senator pays the market-value in rent each month.
In 2005, 2006 and 2008, he listed his apartment at the townhouse as his primary residence in official documents.
In the two years he listed the cabin in Mississippi as a second home, Cochran filled out the box noted as second home rider in his applications to the Federal Election Commission, which is a designation intended to show that the dwelling is not a primary living place and sometimes gives the applicant a lower rate on the property.
Cochrans campaign said that it was a simple mistake and that he calls the Mississippi cabin home.

Translation: “Oh, I was from [wherever]. I have to go back there once or twice a year to lie about my ‘show votes’, but my heart is in good ole D(innahouse!)C!”
Pathetic POSs. They need to be sent packing.
Cochran needs to be thrown out because he is a liberal, not because he lives in Washington. (I’m guessing at least 97 Senators live in the Washington area.) Then again, I suppose we can’t unilaterally surrender in the muckracking war.
And come to think of it, we probably should get rid of the other 96 senators who live in the DC area.
What’s really scummy, as I think about it, is his claim it was a mistake. I’m CERTAIN that his staff accountant declared DC his primary residence to avoid paying some tax or another.
I’m sure there will be a FReeper along shortly to tell us what a solid conservative Cochran is and how mistaken we all are for wanting him removed from DC.
I recall this issue hit the news back when Democrat Dick Clark was US Senator from Iowa. Turned out he owned no property in Iowa.
He was turned out of office in the next election...
“Im sure there will be a FReeper along shortly to tell us what a solid conservative Cochran is and how mistaken we all are for wanting him removed from DC.”
Yeah, and I’ll respond with this, his conservative voting record:
Cochran (MS) - 06/03/14 - 54% (Average) - 57% (Heritage) - 56% (CFG) - 60% (ACU) - 41% (FreedomWorks)
But it was all a democrat conspiracy .... or so his supporters on here said.
This is why Washington D.C.—all branches of federal government—should be decentralized. Members of Congress should remain in their states and districts and caucus, debate, vote and legislate via computer.
You do good work posting all this stuff. I really wish we didn’t have to fight this careerist rot in DC.
“You do good work posting all this stuff. I really wish we didnt have to fight this careerist rot in DC.”
I’ve made it a mission to do what I can to make the US Senate a more conservative legislative body. That includes exposing those who portray themselves as conservatives every sixth year to get elected, so they can be removed and replaced. Other than that, everybody needs to know who are the most conservative candidates in open races or to go against the democrats.
Not just Santorum — Romney did something similar. While he was preparing for and running the Olympics in Salt Lake City, he was a legal resident of Utah because that entitled him to better tax treatment. When he then ran for Governor of Massachusetts, there was an inconvenient seven-year residence requirement. To be eligible to run, he “moved” from Utah to Massachusetts — retroactively.
Any rumors about his marriage? If he has his girlfriend ( BTWE..is she married?) on the government payroll...that's a big deal
Senator Cochran’s wife is in a long term care facility in Mississippi. She has been there since 2000 and has had dementia all these years.

1. I said last year that Cochran wanted to retire....he had almost nothing in his campaign account..but decided to run only because McConnell asked him to...Mitch is worried about getting enough votes for majority leader, and you;ll remember that when McDaniel announced..he said that he wouldn't vote for McConnell for leader...IF the GOP picks up enough seats...and a lot will be TP types..if someone like Mike Lee decides to run..it will be close.
2. Sad about Cochran's wife, and I do not begrudge him having a relationship..( do you know if t he lady is married?) but again...if she's on the payroll.,.that's a BIG no-no
I don’t know anything about Ms. webber other than she has worked for Senator Cochran for some time and that she attends social functions with him. She looks like a very nice lady though.
Senator Cochran has a cabin in Oxford. I wonder if he lets friends/family use it for football weekends in the fall. :-)
It is very sad I am sure to have a loved one with dementia. And Mrs. Cochran seems to have developed it at a much younger age than I think of when I think of folks with dementia. Reminds me of Mal Moore at Bama. His wife suffered similarly.
I agree 100%,absolutely. No more DC parties, no more arm twisters, no more lobbyists buying votes.
They should be located outside of their State Capitols, in glass offices fronting the busiest street in the city.
E-mails and letters are easy to disregard, but a hundred angry constituents staring at you through the window are hard to ignore. Instead of the DC party circuit, they can meet with constituents (their EMPLOYERS) in community centers and church basements. Maybe, just maybe, they will start responding to the people who elected them.
