A mere 10 days after former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced his new anti-gun coalition Everytown for Gun Safety in the New York Times, former Pennsylvania Gov. and Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge, one of the most prominent members of its advisory board, has resigned from the group.

No one should be surprised.

“When I signed on as an adviser to Everytown,” Ridge said, “I looked forward to a thoughtful and provocative discussion about the toll gun violence takes on Americans. After consultation with Everytown, I have decided that I am uncomfortable with their expected electoral work.”

I thought Tom Ridge was a conservative?

How stupid does he have to be to think this was going to be anything else then a typical anti-gun attack.

The scary thing is that this RUBE was in charge of protecting the Homeland. And he signed on to the Bloomberg Network. IDIOT.

“I have decided that I am uncomfortable with their expected electoral work.”
Translation:Associate with these people and you won’t ever get elected again.

He’s been known as a gun-grabber since he entered the national political picture.

“When I signed on as an adviser to Everytown,” Ridge said, “I looked forward to a thoughtful and provocative discussion about the toll gun violence takes on Americans. After consultation with Everytown, I have decided that I am uncomfortable with their expected electoral work.”

Rockford, Ill., Mayor Larry Morrissey: “The reason why I joined the group in the first place is because I took the name for what it said: against ‘illegal’ guns. The focus should not be against law-abiding citizens. We should be focusing our enforcement on folks who have no right to carry a gun, concealed or otherwise."

I'm calling bullsh#t on both of these morons. EVERYONE who can read past a fifth grade level knows that anything to do with Michael Bloomberg and guns is anti-gun and anti rights, period.

Ridge is a moderate.

Wasn’t a bad governor, but didn’t slap the Dems down enough, either.

Sure. Agreed.

But he wasn’t a rabid lib, either. And he wasn’t an activist like Fast Eddie Rendell.

He’s about what you expect from the PA GOP.

If you ever thought that DHS was ever about “defending the homeland”, I would really like to sell you a used car.
