NBA Suspends Clippers’ Owner Donald Sterling For Life, Imposes $2.5 Million Fine
CBS LA ^ | April 29, 2014 | Unattributed

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — NBA Commissioner Adam Silver announced Tuesday Clippers owner Donald Sterling will be suspended for life and fined $2.5 million in response to the racist remarks he allegedly made in a recorded audio clip.

Silver spoke to the press at 11 a.m. news conference from New York, stating he will “do everything in my power” to force the sale of the Clippers.

“The hateful opinions voiced by that man are those of Mr. Sterling. The views expressed by Mr. Sterling are deeply offensive and harmful. That they came from an NBA owner only heightens the damage and my personal outrage,” Silver said. “I am banning Mr. Sterling for life from any association with the Clippers association or the NBA. Mr. Sterling may not attend any NBA games or practices, he may not be present at any Clippers facility, and he may not participate in any business or decisions involving the team.”

I demand Harry Reid be suspended forthwith for saying obama was “clean and articulate” and that obama didn’t have “ a NEGRO dialect”!!!

for some reason, i thought Joe Biden had said that!

Racist Slow Joe Biden said 0bama is "clean articulate and bright" and Racist Hairy Screed said 0bama is “light skinned” and has “no Negro dialect.”

Too bad Leno’s not on the air anymore. Would love to hear his jokes about this situation.

"The same people who are shrieking about the NSA spying on them have no problem at all with spying on somebody they don’t like."

Apples and oranges. The NSA is a governmental agency spying on millions. Sterling was outed by his own girlfriend. Tacky, perhaps, but a vastly different matter.

The NBA would take control of the team due to negligence on the part of Sterling.

It’s like if you buy a McDonald’s franchise and run it into the ground - they can take it from you.

I may apply for the NBA draft, though, since racial quotas are sure to follow, right? Let’s be fair...

Me, too!

I can dribble (in a cup), shoot (at a target), pass on the left (or the right if there is heavy traffic). I think I'd be very well rounded. I do eat well!

The last I heard, he was a small-time Democrat donor years ago, then became a registered Republican, but never contributed to any Republican campaigns. He does not appear to be very political.

TMZ, which released the first, nine-minute audio, and other sources are reporting that Sterling knew he was being recorded. Allegedly, the mistress openly recorded much of their conversation, and she has over 100 hours of audio.

Why? Well, I'm more cabbage-looking than I am green.

Other sources are reporting that a third party was also present.

Right, he’ll have to sell the team. I’m pretty sure a ban means no direct involvement.

Next time around he should buy a hockey franchises

Of course it is unfair that 100 hours of causal conversation have been illegal taped by his ho V. Stiviano and put out in public. Life has been unfair to Donald Sterling (except that he is still worth 1.9 billion) but the NBA and its other owners have a lot of wealth on the line in the form of their franchises. Their investments are at risk so Sterling has been offered up as the human sacrifice to the black/leftists mobs. A lynching done by blacks and their left wing media promoters.

Let us assume all NBA owners were consulted and a consensus was reached. If this had been another owner with similar racist remarks I have no doubt Donald Sterling would have voted to terminate him the same way.

All in all the NBA sucks. I never watch their games. But I will admit that by giving Sterling the boot in a timely fashion they did the best they could for themselves

Not entirely true. An egregious jury decision can be vacated by a judge.

The NBA is a private organization with a brand to protect. It can do whatever it wants within the boundaries of its franchise agreements

What is the incentive for anyone trying to own one of these teams when you can be controlled like you are owed, I.e. A slave.

Even billionaires have to answer to other people

Thanks for that. I had heard something earlier to that effect.

Does TMZ do WH scandals too?

CNN used to. ;-)

There is no way Adam Silver makes such a strong statement that he did today if he does not have the votes/backing of the other NBA owners

"Where are the people who were up in arms that Linda Tripp recorded monica against her knowledge? That was the big sin for many if them, not what Bill had done. Where are these peoples outrage that this was a private conversation taped without his knowledge?"

Actually, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, of all people, raised that point.

Yep. This is getting 10000X the coverage of Blacks killing Whites playing the “Knockout game”, the one the media denies even exists.

When Blacks kill Whites, the media tends to sweep it under the rug, but if a White says something bad about Blacks, it’s top of the news, 24/7

He probably pays off whoever can do the most for him, regardless of party. He even paid the NAACP, which is why he got the awards from them.
