Oh very true, but he’s not a “suspect class” so it won’t apply.
Probably read that on freepers last night , it was posted all over here. Bahahaha
He should simply shut down the team, completely. No contract buyouts, no nothing.
+++++
I clicked on this thread to say exactly the same thing. Just close the doors, turn out the lights and hand out pink slips.
This is bulls—t.
Where in the contract does it say he is held accountable for opinions expressed in private?
Yes. He appears to be a scumbag.
Especially in light of what he did with his housing units years ago.
Did he do something illegal?
The NBA had evey right to do what they did.
I don't know. Maybe, contractually, they have the right. I haven't read the contracts he signed. Does that make it right? No. Not one bit. When we get to the point that private individuals having private conversations has become a litigious act, we have lost too much.
I don't know much about this particular case, but in general things are worse that even what you described.
If anyone (even a black) disagrees with the black liberal elite, that person is a racist. Against raising taxes? You are a racist. Favor charter schools? You are a racist.
This corrupts our society, shuts down free speech, and because of the boy-who-cried-wolf effect, actually hides true racism.
Oddly, they declined to enumerate what the violations were. A reported asked a similar question.
I disagree.
He can’t. The NBA would just take the team and he would lose it all.
Guess Sterling is the new Emmanuel Goldstein.
I wouldn’t doubt it for an instant.
LOL
“The bitch set me up”
With the present owner banned for life, now Magic Johnson can buy an NBA team on the cheap, provide “public healing” and the NBA can “move on.”
A cynic would say that it was all planned in advance.
Privtae companies can put whatever they want in their contracts. And you are free to not sign them if you'd like. The 'rule of law' holds no jurisdiction.
Again, I haven’t read it but “conduct detrimental” DOES include private acts, etc if they become public.
For what, Words?!?!?! Maybe they had the right to do it, but it's a very slippery slope when people can lose a business due to words.
Possibly the most expensive hooker ever.
