NBCs Meet the Press has fallen to such ratings lows that network brass ordered psychological research of the host David Gregory and his family, in a bid to make him more likable.
Friends of Gregory and even his wife were interviewed by a psychologist commissioned by NBC to find out how the host of the flagship Sunday morning show might relate to audiences better.
The Washington Post reported, Last year, the network undertook an unusual assessment of the 43-year-old journalist, commissioning a psychological consultant to interview his friends and even his wife.
The idea, according to a network spokeswoman, Meghan Pianta, was to get perspective and insight from people who know him best. But the research project struck some at NBC as odd, given that Gregory has been employed there for nearly 20 years.
The days of Meet the Press ruling Sunday mornings seem a long time ago now it is in third place.

Exactly...what with HIPPA requirements and all.
I guess the other reason for releasing any information at all would be if he agreed to release it...which would make him just dumb
That strikes me as a show that would be popular in the old folks homes, very low key and boring.
Excitement on that show is McCain or Grahamnesty as a guest.
The real problem is simple. He’s just not liberal enough.
Diagnosis???
Brain Tumor.
You got that right.
Bush was obviously perturbed and made fun of--and made a fool of-- Gregory.

He added: "And the fact that protesters show up ó that's good. I mean, I'm in a democracy."
Mr. Bush was responding to Mr. Gregory's question about anti-American demonstrations in Germany, Russia and France during the president's visits to these nations since Wednesday.
"I wonder why it is you think there are such strong sentiments in Europe against you and against this administration?" the reporter said. "Why, particularly, there's a view that you and your administration are trying to impose America's will on the rest of the world, particularly when it comes to the Middle East and where the war on terrorism goes next?" Turning to Mr. Chirac, he added in French: "And, Mr. President, would you maybe comment on that?"
"Very good," Mr. Bush said sardonically. "The guy memorizes four words, and he plays like he's intercontinental."
"I can go on," Mr. Gregory offered.
"I'm impressed - que bueno," said Mr. Bush, using the Spanish phrase for "how wonderful." He deadpanned: "Now I'm literate in two languages."
Roars of laughter filled both the press conference room and a press filing center elsewhere in the city, where many members of the White House press corps were watching the exchange on live television.
Ari Emanuel is Joe and Mika’s agent and they want Gregory’s time slot.
Holy cow.
LOL!
I know. My early 40 something brother in law thinks FOX News is the Al Jerezza for right wingers. My sister watches the propaganda on the Today show.
I just have to ignore it. I do get sick of the arguing on FOX. I prefer FR - much more informative and entertaining.
Because laws don’t apply to liberals, just conservative peasants.
To make him more LIKEABLE????? Seriously?
Do you network geniuses ever CONSIDER the fact that your bias MIGHT have something to do with your Golden Child’s fall from the perch????
The guy is lying scum and nothing he can do will make me like him.
She’s pretty, uh, “chesty.” If it can be written into her contract she needs to wear tight clothing, it might be quite a boost to the ratings...
Bill O Reilly is Al Jerezza for the misinformed.
Maybe he watched Hannity once, that will do it.
The only shows I like on FNC are Cavuto and Megyn Kelly.
Brett Bauer has some good stuff too.
This guest host Shannon Bream I have a fondness for. She puts me to sleep after holiday dinners. She has a very attractive and well mannered way of communicating.
Question when they going have whole network MSNBC be tested
Nice “picture”-—except that the Gatsby character was actually a pretty good and decent man surrounded by corrupt and unlikeable folks.
David Gregory is, on the other hand, a very despicable, unlikeable and dishonest person swimming in a sea of dishonest, unlikeable folks in the mainstream media.
