KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany Polish government officials said Monday that the U.S. military was sending 12 F-16 fighter jets and about 300 service members to their country in response to the situation in Ukraine.

They should be taking out some South American commie tyrant while everyone is watching Europe.
They don’t have soldiers in Poland?
Well, now they have the Polish Army plus a US tripwire.
Putin has no intentions re Poland (he is, after all, a realist). So the F-16's are just for show...unless Obama is stupid enough to order them into Ukrainian airspace.
Putin knows the Poles would kick his ass.
I’d be a LOT more impressed if the Norwegians, the Dutch, Italy, yada, yada, had sent a brigade of troops and aircraft.
Instead, as usual, it’s us, and we’re paying for it.
That really does show the true state of NATO, doesn’t it?
Oh, yes. And this time Germany would be supporting the Poles. Putin would do well to leave Poland - and Finland, for that matter - alone. Two countries filled with tough people.
Straw man fallacy much?
I'm 3rd generation here. Some distant relatives there would really like to put an ass whooping to anyone crossing their borders.
They're not on horseback anymore!!!
And they've got a very deadly contingent of Special Forces.
“Putin knows the Poles would kick his ass.”
Particularly after the Katyn Forest Massacre and the Smolensk assassination.
I don’t think Putin is ready to take on Poland. However, what is now Poland was actually part of the former Russian Empire 100 years ago or so, and Putin has intimated he’d like to re-establish that empire, at least territorially, so let’s keep an eye on this.
A Polish soldier confronts a German and Russian soldier, which does he shoot first?
The German, of course.......Business before pleasure.
300 are probably ground-support crew for the F-16s, (mechanics, weapons speciaists, supply personnel, and a security detail or two).
Agree x 10. Maduro is one lucky dog. Between Crimea and the lost airliner he has been all but ignored by the media and has had free reign to do as he pleases.
Sadly what is called Poland was a part of damn near every 'empire' extant in Europe at one time or another. It was the focal point for so many warring despots that its hard to keep count.
Yeah, that’s true.
They're not on horseback anymore!!!
Winged hussars now with actual wings?
Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth was once the most powerful empire in Europe.
