A group of Asian Americans is starting a grassroots effort to garner support for the Republican Party and its candidates, saying the GOP most closely aligns with their core values including family, education and entrepreneurship.
The group, the Asian Republican Coalition, is co-founded by international investment banker John Ying, who during the 2012 presidential election cycle served on the Republican National Finance Committee.
“We need a forum, and this first step will go a long way,” Ying told FoxNews.com earlier this week.
He hopes the effort, which will include a May 6 kickoff event at the Newseum in Washington, D.C., will provide a “friendly front door” for both potential voters and Republican lawmakers and officials.
While much of the Republican Party’s focus has recently been to trying to connect with Hispanic voters, considering Democratic President Obama won 71 percent of their vote in his re-election victory, Asians are the country’s fastest-growing ethnic group, according to a 2012 U.S. Census report.
However, over the past three presidential election cycles, Asians have increasingly voted Democrat: 73 percent for Obama compared to 26 percent for GOP nominee Mitt Romney in 2012; 62 percent for Obama compared to 35 percent for GOP nominee Arizona Sen. John McCain in 2008; and 56 percent for Democratic nominee John Kerry compared to 44 percent for GOP winner George W. Bush in 2004.

The devil may be in the details of what this group supports, but outwardly it’s a smart and laudable effort.
Conservatives support family and entrepreneurs but the GOPe oppose such things.
This would be so wonderful... there really is overlap in basic values between the two groups.
Always be very cautious about Chinese businessmen involving themselves in any way in US politics. Business in China is very interconnected with government, and both have a strong desire to influence US foreign and domestic policy.
John Ying has major connections on mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and France.
I’m not saying that we should distrust him, just keep an eye on him. He may be trying to assemble a voter block, then offer it in exchange for policy changes from Republicans.
The Vietnamese vote couldn’t save B-1 Bob Dornan on Orange county, Ca. The Philipinos are too much like Hispanics-hardworking-poor-and open to a gov’t handout. The gays run San Francisco where there are more Chinese then anywhere else. It’s something about Jury duty taken from the voter rolls. You are right about the Chinese-Loral anybody? I works for the Democrats.
I’m in process of doing the same thing; on a local level.
My wife is Asian and is a total & natural Conservative.
Let’ not forget the Japanese. It was the Democrats who put them in internment camps. They will ‘blame the government’ without being specific. They weren’t interned in Hawaii-too many of them but guess who runs the state?.

The Chinese that I know voted GOP, but they’re all suburbanites,,, doctors, businessmen/women, engineers, doctors, etc.. I wonder if 73 percent are urban dwellers and 26 percent are suburbanites,,,, or thereabouts?
Thats like saying muslims should get along with Christians because they both believe in god.

I’ve lived on and off in Asia for several years, and in general, I can say that most Asian people one meets have very strong family values and seem naturally conservative. Unfortunately, if one tries to discuss US politics, a lot of people have imbibed the Leftist lie that Republicans are racists and therefore the Democratic Party is natural champion of ethnic minorities in the United States. It’s ridiculous, I know, but the propaganda has been very effective.

And there are differences.
First, Asians think Nascar is stupid. I’m asian and I think Nascar is stupid. The only reason people like Nascar is because people like me think it is stupid and they want to rebel. Since they can’t shoot the president or kill off the media, they flock to Nascar.
Second, Asians think all these high school (mostly white) cliques are stupid. We actually think nerdy is ok and sports are overrated.
Third, Asians think white people to some extent do not like us. And I believe there is some truth to the matter. All you have to do is look at any job where popularity is a bigger part of the job than measurable performance and NO WAY IN HELL IS AN ASIAN GETTING THAT JOB. 40% of the student body at Cal Tech is Asian but if you watch the Big Bang Theory which is supposed to be at Cal Tech, there are no Asians anywhere, not even in the background shots.
Fourth, Asians find the duplicity (aka lying) of white democrats to be disgusting but wrongly associate these white people to be republicans because they are white.
Nice try but I don’t think it matters. I’ve been working as a field manager in Chicago gathering petitions to outlaw gerrymandering. Asians don’t care about politics. They care about their families, their businesses and the outside world....none of their concern. At least in Chicago.
Suburbanite Asians in California and New Jersey vote Democrat. Check the election returns for the San Gabriel Valley or the portions of Middelsex and Bergen counties in NJ that are heavily Asian, and you will see a heavy vote for Obama.

NASCAR and F1 are OK to watch on television, provided you like the feel of a videogame that you can't control.
America (including American business) values a certain degree of individualistic dynamism over conformism and collectivism. No matter how smart you are if you don't show a strong, individualistic streak and high level social skills, COMBINED with intelligence and a strong work ethic, you will plateau at best.
The entertainment industry is disproportionately populated by secular Jewa, male homosexuals, and white women. This is why these three groups are disproportionately represented on television, even though whites (as well as Jews and gays) are a minority in SoCal. Its amazing that Hispanics have a plurality in Cali, yet you never see them (or Asians) on the network shows.

On high school cliques we're in total agreement - it's a weird bonding thing teenagers do - but then again I don't look to teenagers as models for anything worth emulating. I like 'nerds' - as most freepers do...(for reasons that are obvious) and no, I don't like political lying either. AND yeah, lying MUCH more common among democrats.
Not all white people are democrats - that's a yucky thought... and not all conservatives are white ... and not all democrats are liars... even if most are... lots of exceptions in life.
Anyhow, people have 'ethnic lists'. Rightly or wrongly. My guess is your list has your group at the top. Mine's the same way - my group is the one I'm most comfortable with... My group is 'self-identified American conservatives'.
There are sub-categories and one of the ones most wonderful is Asian American conservatives - because other than their weird ideas about NASCAR they really have cool values.
