What's even more dubious than claims of catastrophic warming? Claims that scientists know what to do about it.
USA Today:
A rapid shift to less-polluting energy will be needed to avoid catastrophic global warming because global emissions of heat-trapping greenhouse gases have accelerated to unprecedented levels, the United Nations reports today.

I don’t mind you posting this on every GW thread (because AGW is such a load of crap), but could you at least get your points correct? Re #2: The sun is NOT a giant ball of fire. “Fire” is the product of combustion, or chemical oxidation: the combination of oxygen and another element/molecule. The sun is a continuous thermonuclear explosion (no “fire” involved). Getting something so simple wrong does not help your point at all...
OMG! paychecks are at stake!!!!!
Think about all the useless eater EPA drones who will be out of a job without this incessant global warming propaganda. This drum beat designed to brainwash people. Millions of other Govt workers could lose their paychecks, Dittos for alleged climate scientists in universities sucking on the Federal Guvmint teat
Kind of like the irs. Let’s make everybody pay 18%. Period. Think they would ever abolish the irs if that was the case? Not gonna happen. Us to the lyin’ king. “If you like your irs, you can keep your irs.”
These days the IRS is an affirmative action jobs program..... Women minorities etc. In fact most of today’s Federale Guvmint is a glorified jobs program for liberals, women..... blacks and gays are very heavily ever-represented and other dreamt up minorities
Given our zero sum economy the more Federale workers you have the fewer workers you have in the private sector. The Feds and their over-regulators suck the life out of the private productive sector. They job depends on this
You hit on it...Being that the IRS is a jobs program. Given that countless thousands depend on it for a paycheck......
This works against any flat tax income tax due to IRS drones being out on the street or applying for Burger Kings
Burger King=$10.50/hr. Big burger now $18.00. Number of employees reduced by 60%. Yeah, that all works. Idiots!
There actually is only type of energy that would meet their goals. It would also likely garner support from a broad spectrum of society because it would actually lower energy costs for everybody.
It’s only problem is that the previous iterations of the power plants using this technology were a flawed design given a de facto monopoly by the US government. Compounded by high profile failures of the flawed design prompting widespread public fear. All completely predictable, but a few bribes from lobbyists for GE and Westinghouse papered that over and to this day, we have no coherent energy policy as a result.
The technology is nuclear, of course. Clean, zero carbon, affordable and safe. Using thorium molten salt reactors, they can be fail proof and even convert previously ‘unusable’ nuclear waste into fuel.
You will know the IPCC and their ilk are serious about carbon when they go all in for nuclear. Until then, it is safe to assume that all they want to do is tax industrialized nations so they can skim their personal fortunes off the top.
Roger that. The molten salt/thorium looks good to me but who knows what lurks out there in the unknown? :>}
The sky is falling!!! THE SKY IS FALLING!!
A ball of combustion suit you better?
Or ball of explosion?
Oh my, this could become a literal “flame” war.
“Ball of thermonuclear fire” would be good enough for almost everyone except extreme pedants.
Laz recommends ‘massive shift’ of money from the IPCC to avoid serial lying.
Ball of thermonuclear plasma, thank you very much.
So saith Plasmataz?
Lightning, which is an electrically generated plasma, was considered to be a kind of fire according to biblical accounts. I don’t know why we should insist on being more pedantic than Moses was. (Well, OK. He called a bat a bird. As would the Israelites. So sue God.)
Moses had his Doctorate in High Energy Physics. He should have known better.
LOL!
