The U.S. Bureau of Land Management announced today that it was ending its effort to seize Cliven Bundys herd of cattle that has been illegally grazing on federal land. The reason the BLM suspended the cattle round up was to protect the safety of federal employees and members of the general public. Bundy and a smattering of his right-wing supporters have threatened to wage a range war if the government continues with its effort to enforce the law. Let that sink in for a minute. The government is halting their efforts to enforce the law because of the threats being made by Bundy supporters.
In other words, the threat of violent opposition to the federal government enforcing current law, caused the government to back down and yield to the demands of domestic terrorists.

You need to go research the history of the restrictions on the two local allotments.
Yeah...next time I'm in the neighborhood, I think I'll drop by the local BLM office and have them pull the files. ;-)

So you have no real solution ...whatever. In case you haven’t noticed a dominant theme of the Obama regime is selective enforcement of laws. Looks like this rancher just lucked out and the Obama regeime-parasites in DC won’t be enforcing Federal laws against him either.....for the time being

Apparently the animals have been successfully grazing in the area for >100 years.

The solution was for Mr. Bundy to pay his grazing lease rental, like every other rancher does. If he had done so, it would have eliminated the primary reason the BLM used to start seizing his cattle. But that was all Mr. Bundy's responsibility.
That's not to say that Harry Reid might not have found some other reason to send the BLM after this guy, but they would have needed to be more creative in their approach. As it happened, Mr. Bundy just made it easy for them to adopt the pretext by falling 20 years in arrears on his lease rental.
As to the question of "selective enforcement," I'm not aware that there's a huge number of ranchers grazing their cattle on federal lands without paying their allotment fees. But I doubt that Mr. Bundy is being treated that much differently than anybody else in a similar situation. Bundy has just carried it to an illogical extreme. Most other ranchers would just pay the fee or move their cattle somewhere else.

I was married to a domestic terrorist for twenty five years. And then G_D set me free and healed me!

Please please don’t use that story. It isn’t true. The truth is bad enough, we do not need to make stuff up. The solar plant was supposed to be in Laughlin, NV. Which is also Clark County. We actually wanted it. But it fell through about eight months ago. Dead and gone.

I'm sure that's true; otherwise, grazing leases in the area would have no particular value. The federal land Bundy was running his cattle on obviously must have been of some use in grazing cattle; otherwise, why would Bundy have kept his cattle out there?
Here's the central question: Should the BLM let a renegade rancher graze his cattle on public lands without payment, especially when all the other ranchers who lease BLM lands are paying? If you're going to be fair to the other tenant ranchers, not to mention the taxpayers, the answer is "no."

This picture warms my heart: the men on horseback vs the jack-booted thugs, garbed in official-looking klown garb with patches and shiny badges, quivering behind their klown kars.

The Feds shut down the access to the allotment in 1998 by fraudulent use of the Endangered Species Act.

"Get them out of the land owning business in Nevada and other states."
I nominate Cliven Bundy to be the Leader for that effort. It should be done; now more than ever.
