WOMAN claims an airport security agent refused to let her disabled sister on board a plane because she couldnt say her own name.
Sherry Wright says she was shocked at the treatment they received at Los Angeles International Airport, where her sister Heidi was due to fly to Phoenix.
The problems began when Heidi, who was left wheelchair-bond and unable to speak or write after a stroke a decade ago, was stopped by the Transport Security Administration (TSA) due to an expired drivers licence, CNN reported. Sherry claims the TSA agent was rude and insensitive, insisting Heidi talk.
I showed her ID, her social and her DMV (licence) papers, Sherry said, to no avail.
He just wanted me to make my sister talk, and I couldnt believe it.

I am certain there were ways around this but apparently no one knew them.
But I see it is not so.
Have her wear a burqa.
They will let her right through.
Yeah, lack of a valid I D is a Big Issue / sarc.
Like a stroked out woman in a wheelchair is a threat to security. Your TSA on the job once more.
Put sis in your car and drive her the 5 hours.
Unfortunately, if you show up visibly handicapped and in need of medical devices, the TSA will subject you to extra screening. When I had a broken arm, they did not require me to remove my jacket, but they took me aside and wanded me after I went through the metal detector.
I have found dealing with the TSA a mixed bag. Last summer, we flew cross-country. Upon arriving at our resort, I discovered that my TSA compatible lock had been cut off, everything in my suitcase was in complete disarray, and a crystal necklace that I had placed in a zippered pocket was broken, with beads strewn throughout my belongings. One bead was lost completely, so even after re-stringing, the necklace does not look the same. I put in a claim; after receiving a letter in December acknowledging receipt, I have heard nothing.
BTW, it is a good idea to keep those luggage claim tickets until your trip is done and you are sure you have no damaged items. The TSA will ask for the luggage claim number if you have to file a claim. I did not have that information for the claim form, although everything else was thoroughly documented, with pictures of the damaged items.
Then they win. This issue i coming to a head. National ID drivers’ licenses require you take SS card, birth certificates, and/or a host of documents to DMV. I wouldn’t, so my license is marked “NOT FOR FEDERAL IDENTIFICATION”. TSA will prevent people from travelling, wherever and whenever they can.
See? The tsa admits that the peasant and her family were at fault. Perhaps, if they are sufficiently subservient next time this kind of inconvenience might be avoided.
Once again this came from a foreign paper , Australian ... Obungo’s butt buddies in the US press will never report this.
I don’t fly. I love to fly. I have been in more light planes than commercial planes in the last decade (I do not pilot aircraft myself) I fly only for long trips. This goes back to 9/11 and Bush (obviously some of the BS is needed to prevent another terrorist attack) If I need to be across the nation and in a few days I fly. If I need to be 500-600 miles I drive.
I don’t cut off my nose to spite my face. It is not worth the aggravation to put up with their BS if it is a day trip or less. I prefer my own company in my own vehicle than the sardine can reality of much air travel and the BS that one must go through to get into said sardine can.
Snort!
these assholes are a fricking nightmare
here I am a 5’4 skinny blond with a broken foot in a cast and they want to test my hands and cast for explosives
Not all government employees are slugs. I work for the Navy fixing systems on ships and the mostly retired Navy who work here do a great job.
This will not happen until sufficient numbers of government, including high-ranking elected, employees are indicted, tried, convicted, and sentenced for treason.
If TSA had existed on 9/11, the perpetators would have succeeded as boxcutters were an allowable item to fly with.
TSA is a microcosm of our entire law enforcement beaurocracy, both federal and local, gone awry.
(I think it could have been handled differently by the TSA and it probably could have been handled differently by the family, and hopefully moving forward the family wont have this problem again, because they know about the programs that we have in place, Melendez said.)
This is no apology at all. In fact, it essentially says that it’s the family’s fault as they didn’t know about what programs the TSA has in place. No wonder the TSA person was this rude. This attitude is coming from the top! And nobody will lose their job because they are unionized.
Welcome to the New Amerika!
Texas has required those to get a driver's license for over 15 years. Men have to PROVE they aren't "deadbeat dads" by providing their SS# (a requirement, the other document can vary) to get a driver's license (even a replacement).
What's utter horsesh!t is that in that time, they've also been collecting a fingerprint from EACH hand (what, in case you lose one?) yet they do not use that biometric information to provide a replacement card (you must again present the legal documents).

This is not about safety, it is not about security, it is about controlling the populace. Making it so you cannot leave if the government says no. Making it so they have access to your bags and person without a fight.
I’m still confused about how the family could have handled this better, as the TSA stated.
What?
Not fly?
Get Jeff Dunham to talk for her?
What?
