The new documentary Silence Patton: First Victim of the Cold War claims that General George Patton was murdered, possibly by the KGB, because he was vociferous in his desire to oppose the former Soviet Union.
Writer-director Robert Orlando said his goal was to prove to the viewer that he was silenced because his views didnt go along with the status quo.
Patton died Dec. 21, 1945, as a result of injuries he suffered when he was traveling as a passenger in a car that was crushed by a two-ton truck. The rest of the people involved in the crash only sustained minor injuries.
Patton hated Josef Stalin, the Soviet leader, and his hatred made him enemies in the U.S. and Great Britain as well as the Soviet Union.
He is supposed to have said, "Tin politicians in Washington have allowed us to kick the hell out of one bastard (Adolf Hitler) and at the same time forced us to help establish a second one (Stalin) as evil or more evil than the first.

Well, they (Russians) mighta took that “give me 10 days and I’ll start a war with them bastards we can win” thing very seriously.
Patton’s Caddy was hardly “crushed”, in fact it was restored and is currently on display. From what I’ve read, Patton wasn’t that badly injured... makes one wonder what happened in the hospital.

First of all, they were the NKVD in 1945. Also, it was a freak occurrence, where he hit the partition in an otherwise minor collision. Sometimes, an accident is just that.......
Much later it was revealed that at Yalta when Churchill was not in the room FDR several times totally changed his tone to that as a conspirator, casting the Brit in light as being some kind of “outsider”.
I think FDR was much more a collectivist than 95% of people realize.
FDR also did know about what Stalin had done with all the Polish officers in the Katyn Forest in Russia and SAID NOTHING.
Even George would have had a very difficult time kicking the hell out of AH without the assistance of JS.
Of all the Germans and their allies that died in the war, 85%+ were killed by the Red Army.
In fact, had there been no Eastern Front, invasion of Europe would have been utterly beyond the capability of the western Allies.
We would still have won the war in 1945, but only by using nukes.
Absolutely possible.....but not proven at this point.
Patton was in the top 10, to be sure. But he seriously underestimated the power of the Red Army. 1945 was not 1941.
Russia had 5 times the number of men under arms vs the Allies in Europe. Patton wouldn’t have walked over the Russians. Quite the opposite. Stalin was a psycho and Patton’s bosses were quite right to worry what Stalin might do whenever Patton famously shot is mouth off.
If we’d had nukes at that time it might have been a different story.
There was no need to assassinate Patton. Truman need only fire him as he did MacArthur years later.
We only had 2 nukes, and they were both used on Japan. In fact, Japan was still fighting after Nagasaki, and only surrendered after we lied that we had a 3rd bomb ready to level Tokyo.
So we would have had to invade Germany, which would have costed twice as many lives if we had to invade Japan.
