The GOP will never become unified until is decides what it believes. Bush should run if only to force that debate over what Republicans really stand for. Part of the reason Reagan won in 1980 was the field against him was divided. The establishment favored Ambassador Bush or John Connolly or Bob Dole or Howard Baker but Reagan forced the debate and moved the party to the right, where much of it is today.
In 2016 the right of center vote will be divided among Paul, Ted Cruz, and others, just as the conservative vote was divided in 2012, allowing the highbrow Mitt Romney to win the nomination.
If an outsider wins the nomination, establishmentarians can be counted on to hold their noses and be supportive, if only to maintain their proximity to power. But if an insider like Romney wins, it will be interesting to see if they can convince the Tea Party to stick around, as Mitt failed to do in 2012. Failing that, we could see the death of the modern, national GOP. And possibly the eradication of Reaganism as a governing philosophy.
Or, if Reaganism prevails again, as it did in 1980, 84, 88, 94 and 2006, we could see the departure of the neocons from the GOP, to go back to their natural home in the Democratic Party, where they were once call Trotskyites. And see Bushism fade as a valid governing philosophy.
This coming fight for 2016 will be the Gotterdammerung for the GOP--the dusk of the gods-- as it will determine what it stands for, probably for a long time. No one can predict the outcome, but like Ali versus Frazier--or any contest over power--it will be utterly fascinating to watch.

This isn't a game, you know. This is the future of America.
I think breitbart’s being run by a liberal..
Yes, Jeb, run to Mexico.
I vote he runs to Venezuela! Mexico’s too close. LOL
If Ted Cruz runs, everyone else can forget about winning the nomination; and Hillary Clinton can kiss her chances of winning the election goodbye.
> I vote he runs to Venezuela! Mexicos too close. LOL
:)
Anywhere, as long as it’s not here.
Bush is what the meek will settle for, not anything we should stand for.
POST OF THE WEEK ! ! ! Well done, sir or madam!
Ron Paul is not on the right - he is more libertopian
In 2016 the right of center vote will be divided among Paul, Ted Cruz, and others....
Hoowee. Much fail here. If this goober thinks the party is still to the right and thinks Pauls is right of center, then he's just freaking nuts.
Run off a CLIFF, Jeb, you dirty scum..!
The Bush family LOVES the Clintons, and the GOP is PART of the ESTABLISHMENT.
I will never vote for an Establishment Republican —I don’t care if he has the HUGEST “R” after his name in the entire world.
They’re scum.
Run to the Democrat Party?
A fella at work here had an interesting take. Jeb Bush has no intention of running for president, he is simply raising funds during a faux campaign to hand over to whatever candidate later on.
I dunno. It all seems like a game to me now. None of these SOB’s really care for the health and well being of this nation.
What they want is money, prestige, power.
Of the final four contenders (Gingrich, Romney, Santorum and Paul), Rick Santorum was the only one who might even remotely be described as conservative.
Gingrich willingly played the Judas goat for Romney in 2012 just as Huckabee played it for McCain in 2008.
I would put it differently. Nobody's ever going to agree on everything. The key is the GOP deciding what are the one or two most critical issues of today and 2016. Clearly, the greatest political issue overshadowing all other political issues is the size of the unconstitutional $4 trillion federal government which threatens our freedoms, our livelihood, and our very existence and which needs to be cut by 80% (that leaves an $800 billion government, still too big, but its a start). The GOP also needs to go back to school and learn about the FREE MARKET ECONOMY which ran things very well for over a century around here. The free market economy IS THE ALTERNATIVE to Obamacare and big government. No other political issue comes close.
The GOP needs to unify and rally around THAT issue. Let the other political issues go - they're chump change in caparison.
And get the hell out of town.
Yes, America can only lose!
Breitbart is now being run by a leftist.
Would that what you say is true, but I think there are a lot of Republicans who won’t support Cruz. We’veseen him do so much in defense of liberty, and yet, people are still hungering for Rand Paul, for instance.
Geez, the Stupid Party just can’ stop.
Everybody read for President Hillary!?
ON the good side, I think Hillary! is more of a crook than a commie.
