If you're poor, the only way you're likely to injure someone is the old traditional way: artisanal violence, we could call it – by hands, by knife, by club, or maybe modern hands-on violence, by gun or by car.
But if you're tremendously wealthy, you can practice industrial-scale violence without any manual labor on your own part. You can, say, build a sweatshop factory that will collapse in Bangladesh and kill more people than any hands-on mass murderer ever did, or you can calculate risk and benefit about putting poisons or unsafe machines into the world, as manufacturers do every day. If you're the leader of a country, you can declare war and kill by the hundreds of thousands or millions. And the nuclear superpowers – the US and Russia – still hold the option of destroying quite a lot of life on Earth.

I suppose. However, there are Right leaning articles in Left leaning media and visa versa. I guess it’s more of a request for FR software setup to flag Leftist articles. Seems like FR has more Leftist articles than Right-leaning articles. I wasn’t really criticizing you particularly. I don’t know how far I’d get with that kind of request. Seems like they’re not necessarily that amenable.
“Global Warming” or more recently “Climate Change” is a gravy train for activists and scientist -if your life endeavor was to avoid doing anything productive and basking in (self) praise how would you respond to a threat to that existence...???

The style of the article is very typical though, and often used by much more influential characters. It is an ugly propaganda technique.
Its an attempt to create a frame for criticising something, and more to the point someone, by asserting a novel definition of some loaded term. “Hate”, “phobia”, etc.
In this case some vague set of misfortunes to which humanity is subject becomes “violence”, with a cause, and, both in assertion and implication, a specific perpetrator. And this justifies working up a real hatred of the perpetrator. After all, violence is associated with deliberate malice and anyone who does violence to innocents deserves hatred.
Guys like Lenin and Stalin did this a LOT. Lenin particularly in his own writings, and Stalin through his speechwriters.

Here is how you end the Global Warming debate. Call it what it is. Pollution. The air is bad, well that is air pollution. The oceans and rivers and lakes are dirty, well that’s water pollution. People all over the world are starving, well that’s using corn for freaking ethanol.
Here is the problem. If you call it pollution, countries like China, India, Venezuela, Mexico and most of the middle east will have to pony up the cash.
I’m ready for ‘em to try.
