Just ten days after becoming CEO of web company Mozilla, Brendan Eich resigned after drawing the ire of LGBT advocates.
In 2008, Eich donated money to the Proposition 8 campaign, an effort around legislation to make same-sex marriage illegal in California. When he was announced as the new Mozilla head, members of the LGBT community and even Mozilla employees expressed their dissatisfaction through social media and called for Eichs resignation. Many have since spoken out against the backlash calling it unfair.
On Mondays NewsOne Now, Roland Martin was joined by a panel of guests to discuss the news, whether the LGBT lobby went too far with Eich and where protests cross the line into bullying.
They’ve been pushing boundaries since day one and at last, people are beginning to push back.
This is no longer about recognition of being human beings or having the right to pork each other till Kingdom Come, but now it’s about wrecking lives, the lives of people who don’t do what they say without question.
Yeah, well, as with all these swords, it cuts both ways.
It’s not a matter of too far - it’s a matter of finally honest.
All the left-wing groups are Bullies!
In 2008 Barack Obama was opposed to “gay” “marriage” on moral/religious grounds. And as a U.S. senator, his opinion had a much greater chance of affecting the lives of homosexuals that any opinion of Mr. Eich.
Why are the same people who attacked Mr. Eich not calling for Mr. Obama’s resignation?
PS - No need for an answer - the question was sarcastic/rhetorical.
It’s interesting to see people pushing back; it proves my theory that Americans are not the doormat wimps everyone (and many on here) despair of them being.
You mean evil straight people are at fault?
The LGBT crowd has crossed the line! But who let them do it?
Pandering to a cause never did any good! There is a point when, as we say in the South to. Go Slam to Hell!
At the moment the LGBT community knows that even they can’t take down Obama.
The reason it takes them awhile is they're busy working jobs. By contrast, the liberals work full time at political activism supported by Gov't grants and such.
I think LGBT may have jumped the shark this time. We'll see.
“The reason it takes them awhile is they’re busy working jobs. By contrast, the liberals work full time at political activism supported by Gov’t grants and such.”
Exactly; I do think that jobs and careers are the best way to mainstream someone (my username makes that clear :)) and if gays stopped being a government supported movement, things would be a lot better.
Pleasing your enemies will not turn them into your friends.
What amazes me is how Brendan Eich has been able to drop off the Earth since this went down. Not a peep.
This is a stupid argument. It isn’t that they’ve “gone to far,” it is the NATURE of their attacks and where they’re going AT ALL.
Like Rush said earlier this week, these leftist groups have been extremely successful at demonizing anyone who disagrees with their “issue” by casting us as “evil” because we don’t agree. Don’t agree with gay marriage? You hate gays. Don’t agree with global warming? You hate a clean environment. Don’t want amnesty for illegals? You hate Hispanics. We’ve got to find a way to get the word out that conservatives aren’t haters of people or races or the environment or women or.....
It’s called “framing”....read the book... “DISINFORMATION”...a commie tactic from WAY back.
What do you mean? Did you expect he’d be starring a Broadway show?
Only blacks appear at “news” One Now, so it cannot be taken seriously.
