A two-decades-old battle between a Nevada rancher and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has resulted in officials armed with machine guns surrounding the ranch and forcibly removing the owner’s cattle, according to the rancher’s family.
Cliven Bundy, the last rancher in Clark County, Nev., has been fighting a “one-man range war” since 1993, when he decided to take a stand against the agency, refusing to pay fees for the right to graze on a ranch run by his family for centuries.
After years of court battles, the BLM secured a federal court order to have Bundy’s “trespass cattle” forcibly removed with heavy artillery, the family said.

I wonder how much of the national debt could be paid off if the federal government sold off maybe 90% of the vast land holdings it has.
I am not talking about military bases etc. just those huge parts of many states.

I love how the government says it will cost them $3 mil to impound 800 head. Clearly, Mr. Bundy did not spend this on his yearly gathers. I do a little cowboy work and would do a heck of a lot morre if it all paid like that. Just goes to show how private biz can do things infinately more efficiently than the gov. No way will they recoup that on the sale of the cattle.
By the way, if you do the math on what Bundy says he owes and what the gov says he owes Budy’s math works, the gov’s numbers suggest he was grazing 3500 head a year, unless they are claiming fines, but such fines would be excessive.

Clear out some land so the bond debt to the chinese can be paid off if they get antsy. The chinese will want national parks and open grazing for the cattle on the farms they are buying with out money.
