A date and cabin locations have finally been chosen.
This years shoot will be October 18th. Once again it will be held in Seagoville, (5 miles south of Route 175 or 3.5 miles NE of I-45 (exit 270) on S. Belt Line Road). The plan at this time is to meet at Cotton Gin in Crandle for breakfast at 9:00 a.m., BUT they are currently closed due to a fire. Hopefully they will be reopened by October. If not, Plan B will be put in place. After breakfast we will all head to the range. A delicious lunch will be provided at the range by our wonderful FRiend cpdiii.
The cabins where we are staying are Miller Creek Ranch in Canton, TX. There is a map of the place Here
A block of cabins have been reserved under the name TexasCowboy Memorial Shoot. To reserve your cabin, call 866-488-6020 or 903-567-6020 They are reserved for Thursday the 16th through Sunday the 19th. Please let them know if you will arrive Thursday or Friday night. A $125.00 deposit is due at the time you make your reservation, with the balance due when you check in.
The cut off date for making your reservation is May 28th! Make reservations after that date at the risk of not getting a cabin.
The cabin numbers reserved for us are 10, 22, 24, 25, 77, 88, 89, 90, 92 and 102. #s 22, 24, and 25 are called Executive Cabins with lofts, they are $185.00/night and sleep 4-6 people; #s 10, 88, 89, 90 and 102 are Standard Cabins with lofts, they are $165.00/night and sleep up to 4 people; # 92 is a Standard Cabin without a loft and # 77 is handicapped accessible, those are both $150.00/night and sleep up to four. All the lofts, with the exception of #22, are only three feet high and each have two twin mattresses; the loft in #22 is five feet tall. Each cabin has a queen size bed and a queen size sleeper sofa.
No cars are allowed at the cabins, with the exception of the handicapped cabin. You can either use their concierge service to get to and from the cabins or rent a golf cart for $40.00/day. If you want to rent a golf cart it was suggested that you reserve one when making your reservation.
Extra cost included are a $5.00 resort fee (they normally charge this per day, but are only charging us a one time fee); Internet fee is $5.00/day.
Looking forward to seeing everyone in October!
My recipe comes from my GG-Grandmother. I can’t remember a Thanksgiving or Christmas without one.
Our son and his two best friends love them, so I make them all one each for the holidays.
Three years ago I brought two to the office before Thanksgiving, they were gone in minutes. Last year before Christmas I brought in six of them, those didn’t last long either. As I walked in the door and toward the kitchen there was six people following me . . . I felt like the ‘Pied Piper’.
Unless your clan are brats (which I doubt they are) there is no way we will be tired of y’all.
Really looking forward to meeting all of you.
Looks like we will have between 30 and 35ish people at the shoot.
It sounds like the really old-fashioned kind that I just love.
If you don’t feel like making it, please don’t. We don’t want you to hurt your hand again.
The more, the merrier! :)
I’ll see how my hand feels. If it’s not up to it, then no yummy pies.
Otherwise, prepare your tests buds for deliciousness.
We wait with our tongues hanging out. LOL! Just use your BEST judgement. We don’t want you hurting.
I know someone else was going to bring some pie. I’m sure they will be yummy, too. If they are indeed coming. I can’t for the life of me remember who it was...even though NYT mentioned it recently.
My brain....or lack thereof. LOL!
Wonder how many for breakfast with NYT on Friday morning....
I hope he makes that skillet dish with potatoes, eggs, cheese, chillies, etc.
I’ll even do prep work. Been there, done that LOL!
Naw, they're great kids. They take after their mom and dad, and we're just plain old, down to earth people.
Who knows, they might even be Freepers one day :-)
I really look forward to meeting you and everyone else!
You betcha! That's what my wife and I said twenty years ago. Now look at us.....we got us a posse at home! LOL
The skillet dish is quite the chore...Can make for a max of 10 folks with 2 pans a blazin’!
1st 9 in, get in for it...
Everyone else that eats with us gets a traditional breakfast. (scrambled eggs, taters, potato pancakes, bacon, sausage, juice, toast, etc.)
And y’all will be put ta work!
I’ll bet there is never a dull moment in your home! Look forward to meeting the posse! :)
You always do a wonderful job with breakfast! Look forward to those potato pancakes! It’s been a long time since I had one!
Well, they did used to be pretty rambunctious when they were little, but they've calmed down a lot since then. Our three oldest are middle teenagers now, while our youngest is ten.
You know how teens are these days. Noses stuck in blinking electronic screens day and night. That's one reason I'm looking forward to getting them out to the country for a day of shooting and socializing. They're actually looking forward to it, as well.
I can't wait!
I am so bummed that MS. BEHAVIN can’t make it. Y’all talkin’ about cookin’ got me to thinkin’ about that gumbo she made last year. OMG. That was so good!
Si délicieux.
I gotta warn you that once you join us, you’ll be hooked. This will be my third TCMS. I was so nervous about meeting everyone on the first trip. I didn’t know what to expect.
I fell in love with every single one of them. Salt of the earth kind of folks. Truly, they’re family.
I want that recipe....will pay good money..lol!! We should do a FReeper recipe book btw. Let’s plan one on the shoot. We could use the funds for Free Republic. I self published one for family recipes and it is easy! We should talk to Jim about it.
That's what I'm skeered of :-)
Next year this time, I'll probably be hiking off to South Texas or somewhere even further!
Salt of the earth kind of folks. Truly, theyre family.
I'm totally expecting that. I've been a part of this group for seven years now, and have never found people I fit in with better. I've made some really good friends via this forum. Friends who I'd drop anything to help in a pinch - and I know they'd do the same for me.
It'll be really good to meet so many of you fine folks in person.
This is Kc_Lion. I am here at Sweetest Onyx wonderful and historic Mississippi Home!
I couldn't have asked for a better welcome.
We will be heading out soon to Penelopesire's in Texas!
Note to Self, state highways through Southern Arkansas at night=NO!
