A group of top Republican donors have reportedly begun an intense effort to draft former Florida governor Jeb Bush into the race for the GOP presidential nomination in 2016.
A Washington Post report quotes one major donor as saying that the "vast majority" of the top 100 givers to 2012 GOP nominee Mitt Romney would back Bush in a nomination fight.
The report also claims that a hard press has begun to get Bush into the race because conservative leaders and longtime Republican operatives are concerned about the electoral viability of New Jersey governor Chris Christie and Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul. Christie's standing and poll numbers, both nationally and among Republicans, have been damaged by the ongoing investigation into whether he knew of access lane closures to the George Washington Bridge ordered by his staff as apparent political retaliation.

Earlier this week, Bush met privately with casino magnate and GOP donor Sheldon Adelson and addressed the Republican Jewish Coalition's senior members at a dinner held Thursday at Adelson's company airport hangar. The Post, citing a donor in attendance at the dinner, reported that the crowd of about 60 guests applauded when one told Bush, "I hope you run for President in 2016."

You people don’t appreciate the wisdom of the GOP. First, they ran McCrazy for president, then they ran timid Romney and now they want to run Jeb Bush?????????
The only reason to run him is to garner the Hispanic vote because his wife is Hispanic.
WHAT LOSERS THE REPUBLICANS ARE!
Cruz is a lovable honest man, just what the people need to help restore confidence and leadership in Washington.
Cruz’s qualifications are leaps and bounds above what Obama had coming into the race.
ted ted ted!!!
REALLY? In a nation as large as America there is are only a few families “qualified” to run it?! It is time to put a REAL AMERICAN in the White House. No more Bushs, Kennedys, Clintons, etal, hell we would be better off with a common sense “ordinary citizen” than these elitest “professional politicians” that have overseen our nations current state of disrepair.
No more Bushes, Clintons or Obamas. Can’t be repeated often or loudly enough!
Part of me feels sorry for Jeb. He may well have made a much better president that W. But the stars just didn’t align. Life isn’t always fair.
The Republicans should recruit and run Chuck Schumer. I mean, let’s just get the conversion to liberal Democratism done
Because he's for Amnesty. Next caller, please....
Maybe because the last two drove us toward the liberal abyss in 2nd gear (as opposed to the Libs who drive toward the abyss in 4th gear).

Beautiful---deserves a repeat.
Why do they want Jeb Bush? What is their logic that he can win? Name recognition? The Bush name would work against him unfortunately.
I despise liberal open-borders Jeb....I am just curious how the major donors can see him getting elected President. All the Dems have to do is put out TV adds tying Jeb to GW Bush
I’ve about run out of things to say about another Bush.
All I have left say to any GOP people trying to do this:
“You poor dumb bastards”
Oh, for the love of mike, NO NO NO.
CC
Wouldn’t matter. Plenty of Freepers have ARGUED that we vote GOP no matter what. Well, those words have meaning.
Romney was not far removed from the policies from most dems, Schumer included. In fact, he mirrored MOST dem policies like Abortion (with his own cash no less).
So when Jeb or another closet Democrat gets the nom, they will go to the polls and vote for him. Until that changes, America will continue the decline. In short, yes, they may as well run Chuck.
Oh...and they will blame people refusing to vote for Chuck. Because the Dem is worse than Chuck. Even though Chuck is a Dem. Hey, it makes sense in their minds, otherwise they wouldn’t be voting for ‘Republicans’ with Dem voting records. And telling conservatives they are purist fools for not going along with their cunning plan.
You are so right.
They have to put someone in who will protect and continue what Obama has done. If Bush wins u know the votes arent being counted.
Yep, the Bush in the white house now is enough. Obama is a Bush shill, doing the dirty work for them.
I would bet a lot of money he will be in the next GOPs cabinet, maybe even Vice President.
