I’ll take something from anyone who names his “ministry” after himself with a grain of salt.

That said, sorry to hear the owner of chik-fil-a is only human.

If I were to take the mark of the beast it will be a bullet hole.

Sad development.

Here is a related article written by a former Pastor.

Dan Cathy was given a great opportunity by God to show faithfulness to His truth by standing for authentic marriage. He became a great hero to Bible-believing Christians by refusing to back down when the homo-fascists demanded he retract pro-family statements in 2012. The mayors of Boston, Chicago and Philadelphia even pledged to deny Chick Fil A business permits in their cities (coincidentally the very penalty listed in Rev 13:17: “they could not buy or sell without the mark”), but the overwhelming nationwide wave of support that Chick Fil A received was one of the most encouraging events of the past decade.

This week, Dan Cathy took it all back by saying His stand for God was a business mistake. (After all, one cannot serve both God and Mammon: Matthew 6:24)

I read this as a "Dan Cathy, private citizen" vs "Dan the Chick-Fil-A CEO" issue. From The Gospel Herald interview:

"The bottom line is we have a responsibility here to keep the whole of the organization in mind, and it has to take precedence over the personal expression and opinion on social issues," Cathy said.

He called his statements and then what occurred afterwards a learning experience. Although he now sees error in some of the choices he made, he hopes to learn from them. He said that didn't meant the Christian beliefs his father Truett Cathy built the business on were changing.

"You learn from those mistakes." he said. "If not, you're just a fool. I'm thankful that I lived through it and I learned a lot from it."

Is there a link anywhere to see exactly what Cathy said and the context he said it in?

“I am convinced that God is using the homosexual issue as a test of believers all over the world. It’s like the “stress test” the central bankers are using to forecast which banks would fail in the event of an economic collapse. Except in this case God is testing us for what we will do in the coming moral and spiritual collapse.”

I’m convinced this Scott guy doesn’t have standing to question Dan Cathy’s faith, business practices or anything else. Satan is active on many fronts.

you get prosecuted by the full force of the federal government and I grant you my conservative imprimatur to lie to the government to get past this administration.

the darkness is the blind who see things in black and white and hold peoples businesses hostage by support or boycott but do not take one cent out of their pocket in helping those (like Chik-fil-A) who are trying to fight the good fight.

I want to see the quote and the context.

He could have said that to the person who only cares about his business, it would have been perceived as a business mistake.

I need the quote and context before I’ll even entertain the idea of passing judgement on this guy.

It sucks to be rich. Christ said it would be easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of GOD. Thank GOD I am not one of the rich. Pray for him, we have all fallen short.

Sorry, I won't besmirch a fellow Christian based on interviews given to a reporter like this writer is so willing to do. Especially one who has made his views abundantly clear during the storm of conflict which were right on and Biblically correct. As a business leader, Cathy has every right to use hindsight and reflect over the many decisions made during the storm and that could lead anyone to say that they might change a few things or do them differently. So what?

What is more concerning to me is this blog pimp attacking a believer based solely on the article itself and condemning them without the guts to ask Cathy face to face. No where have I read that Cathy has changed any of his beliefs or positions on the issue but only that he has learned from the process and would do some things differently for the sake of his company. Again, so what?

Why are we so quick to throw our brothers and sisters under the bus? In this case, I think it is purely for self edification and “Scott Lively Ministries” is less of a ministry and more of a gossip column than the bearer of truth and the Good News.

“Suggests”
“might be willing”

Pretty weasly writing. I don’t have broadcast television nor do I subscribe to a newspaper so I did not see or read any direct quote that are in this blog article. Is there any other quote that says he rejects the Biblical teachings and has embraced the homosexual agenda? All I see is a truthful statement that applies to our day and age:

“His stand for God was a business mistake.”

Next the writing makes leaps into suggesting that next this man will have pro gay commercials to boost business. Is this true or just the writers closeted wish? I read a bit about Scott Lively’s life and it is quite a story. That being said I always take self proclaimed preachers with a grain of salt. They tend to latch onto a controversial topic and ride it for all the fame and money they can bilk out of it.
But maybe I’m wrong and the Chic Fillet guy has had a complete change of heart and is full tilt pro gay now. I just don’t find anything that even “suggests” that in this screed.
Is Chic Fillet on the stock market? Is this man CEO or owner?
Satan comes at you from every direction. I hope when my trial of temptation comes I can be strong.

I want a larger picture of this. Saying it was a bad business decision only means it cost him money. That is a simple empirical measurement and is independent from his faith.

Same sex marriage is ultimately a political issue. The problem will come when the state forces it on the church. And they will.

"Good out of the gate, but not much for stamina."

I can't judge him beyond that quote from Roadhouse. We all have our limits.

In fact, in spite of all they had witnessed, all of Jesus' friends abandoned Him and one betrayed Him.

I had admired his principled public stance, but now, other than being closed on Sunday, Chick-fil-A is just another fast food restaurant.

Besides, what's really important is how does he feel about Global Climate Change.

The “pope misinterpreters” are awake and active on this post, I see.

Dan Cathy said what he said. Deal with it!

Um. Wow. You really come across as bent toward nastiness. Damning a fine Christian businessman so casually? Whew. Is it your “ministry” to condemn people, to dismiss all the good they’ve done and take on the role of Master Critic?

Making a truthful statement about the effects upon business of a personal opinion or decision makes him an automatic apostate? I think not! Did he say he would do anything differently than before? No.

I’ll never buy another one, and I hope you won’t either.

I hear ya. Yet I still hope occasionally to get one of their mighty fine salads, until I am required to take a "mark" of some kind before I can buy one.

I’m not saying that Dan Cathy isn’t saved,

well, then, what does the term 'taking the mark of the beast' mean?
