Earlier this week, I wrote about a 9-year-old North Carolina boy who was being teased at school for wearing a girlie My Little Pony backpack to school. Administrators at Hyatt Elementary initially tried to solve the problem by telling Grayson Bruce to not wear his beloved backpack, telling him was a trigger for bullying.
But then a social media firestorm ensued. Graysons mom, Noreen Bruce, launched a Support for Grayson Facebook page, attracting over 70,000 fans, and people all over the world wrote in messages telling the boy that his love for My Little Pony is awesome. Men posted images of themselves holding pony dolls. Media outlets across the country picked up the story and it sounds like the folks over at Hyatt Elementary heard the outcry because theyve changed their minds and are letting Grayson wear his Rainbow Dash backpack to school.

You would not have that view if it was your kid being bullied. Now if you also allow for the parents of the bullied kid to step in with a little bullying of the bully, you may have an argument. Or perhaps the perents of the kid that is bullied should be able to dish out the same to the parents of the bully.
Would you like me showing up at your door if your kid picked on mine? We could try that.
Thanks for the link. I only watched the old series with toddlers at the time.
Maybe he’s just a big John Edwards fan.
Your post is total BS. My kid gets picked on and I will make the parent’s life miserable.
Then, wear your pony backpack. Don’t bitch about getting teased. How are those for conservative battles. If he thinks this is bad, wait until middle school.
And..back in the day we just carried book bags and metal lunchboxes. Hit a bully across the head with that, and you might need a new thermos-but he would need a dentist.
Hey—stop being bossy! (Kidding)
LOL! Love those memories.
“In other words, were blaming the victim for what might happened to them?”
Right and dead is still dead. Sometimes one must consider the immediate and permanent consequences of their actions.
Um, my son at age 18 really likes My Little Pony. I never put him in dresses or anything, and considering some of the text messages he has been grounded for, he’s very into women.
My great grandmother figured out that I was hiding from a bully at her house on the way home from school when I was in the 3rd grade.
She told me she was going to lock me out and make me work it out and the first time I didn’t back down he suddenly decided I wasn’t worth the trouble.
I agree in 90% of the cases, there are some where the victim is just simply outgunned.
I saw no mention of a father.
Cue the sound of a toilet flushing. Dear God help us.
Post 61, and now this post. You’re a big bully yourself, aren’t you?
Your 18 year old son is into MLP and you are grounding him for text messages.
That’s very disturbing on so many many levels. Why would you post that?
Lolz
Very appropriate. *flush*
DING DING DING DING!!! As it should be.
It is not liberal-think, but reality think. This kid will get his rear end beaten or he will have to learn to fight.
