A Manhattan trader was killed Tuesday morning by a speeding Long Island Rail Road commuter train, marking at least the seventh suicide of a financial professional this year.
Edmund (Eddie) Reilly, 47, a trader at Midtowns Vertical Group, jumped in front of an LIRR train at 6 a.m. near the Syosset train station.
He was declared dead at the scene.
Reillys identity was confirmed by Salvatore Arena, an LIRR spokesperson, who said an investigation into the incident was continuing.
Passengers on the west-bound express train told MTA investigators they saw a man standing by the tracks before he jumped in front of the train, Arena said.
Eddie was a great guy, Rob Schaffer, a managing director at Vertical, told The Post in an email. We are very upset and he will be deeply missed.
The divorced father of three had rented a house around the corner from his ex-wife, Michelle Reilly, in East Norwich, NY.

This kind of vaguely parallels the Japanese horror movie Suicide Club (2001).
Almost all are very violent deaths. It would almost make you assume someone is having them killed.
If it is one, it is a tradgedy. If it is 10, somebody is making them jump.
The fact he was a banker is incidental, in my humble opinion.

My computer couldn't find the Intel Hub; the server is apparently down.
And the answer is... Hand molders.
Um... What is an occupation least expected to see ranked 8th on a list of suicide by occupations, Alex?
What’s normal? Is this a reporting abnormality or a real banking suicide abnormality?
Hopefully none of the affected commuters missed a critical appointment.
I spent a good part of my career as a broker for a large broker in NYC....horrible business, I knew when I was 35-40 it was a young man’s game and once you hit late 40s you were a dinosaur and they look for reasons to fire you. Horrible, Horrible way to make a living.
