Sen. Rand Paul continued his aggressive brush back of comments from his usual ally Sen. Ted Cruz suggesting that Paul is positioned at the left, dovish flank of the GOP on foreign policy, telling Fox News host Sean Hannity Cruz was mischaracterizing his views.
We always have been good friends. I'm not real excited about him mischaracterizing my views. I won't let that pass. I think that sometimes want to stand up and say hey, look at me, I'm the next Ronald Reagan. Well, almost all of us in the party are big fans of Ronald Reagan, Paul said.
I've always been a big fan of peace through strength. I think America should and has a responsibility around the world and really, virtually all of the opinions that have been coming from Republicans are somewhat the same on this that Putin should be condemned, he should be isolated. I favor sanctions on Putin. So, for people to characterize that as somehow not being the Reagan position, I think they need to have a re-reading of Reagan, frankly, Paul added.

It’s too early for Cruz to run for POTUS. He can and will do a lot more good with a Senate majority!
Mariner, Beagle8U appear to just be ANTI Rand Paul. Making false statements about his positions and using hyperbole instead of facts to trash him every chance they get.
I would take anything posted by these two with a grain of salt.
Great from his offical web site at senate.gov
"I do not support amnesty, I support legal immigration and recognize that the country has been enriched by those who seek the freedom to make a life for themselves. However, millions of illegal immigrants are crossing our border without our knowledge and causing a clear threat to our national security. I want to work in the Senate to secure our border immediately. In addition, I support the creation of a border fence and increased border patrol capabilities.
Immigrants should meet the current requirements, which should be enforced and updated. I realize that subsidizing something creates more of it, and do not think the taxpayer should be forced to pay for welfare, medical care and other expenses for illegal immigrants. Once the subsidies for illegal immigration are removed, the problem will likely become far less common.
I support local solutions to illegal immigration as protected by the 10th amendment. ,b>I support making English the official language of all documents and contracts.
Millions crossing our border without our knowledge constitutes a clear threat to our nation's security. Instead of closing military bases at home and renting space in Europe, I am open to the construction of bases to protect our border.
Yes, watch the edited video. I agree with everything he says. Your definition of amnesty and his (and mine) must be quite different. Headline is a LIE, he never says in the edited video... he has a wish to grant amnesty to ANYONE.
He has a well thought out plan. Maybe instead of bloviating inaccuracies, you might read up on what he has to say.
Explore this site. It has a wealth of info from Rand himself, about himself.
So...Runt Paul tells you he is a conservative, and in your world that qualifies as a ‘fact’?
Liberaltarians lie to get elected, it’s their nature.
How’d he vote on the Senate bill?
Oh, he voted AGAINST the amnesty bill?
So, not so much “pro-” amnesty then....
Glad we cleared that up.
Well, let’s see what the ACU has on his record...

100%?
You don’t say...
Rand played the triangulation game with immigration, and it probably worked in terms of positive press without having to ultimately support open borders. He might oppose amnesty, but he certainly wasn’t leading the fight against it.
I like him, but he has been disappointing on this issue.
Agreed. He tried to get in on the discussion by offering an amendment, but ultimately he gave ammo to folks who don’t like his family very much...
The “appearance of impropriety” thing.
See what the ACLU has him rated at.
He’s still a Liberaltarian.
ACLU : 25%
Mostly because of his stance on NSA spying on us.
Hardly a paragon of Libertarian ideals...
Rand on Rand:
“Clearly, state and local government believe they must take these matters into their own hands, because of the federal government failure, and I support their right to do so.”
“I support laws that allow immigration status to be checked as a secondary issue, meaning, if a person has been stopped for some other valid reason. I support the full enforcement of federal immigration laws, be it by federal or state law enforcement.”
“Finally, as a United States Senator, I will vote for any bill that strengthens border security, including the construction of a physical or electronic fence.”
You ANTI Paul guys love to throw around the BUZZWORD “amnesty”. Amnesty to you is any plan that doesn’t include sending all illegals back home or putting them in jail or in concentration camps.
I’m sorry, but this position is just plain Ignorant.
It will NEVER happen, and it is completely disingenuous.
Any candidate proposing such ideas is committing political suicide. HISPANICS VOTE. Hispanics are a MAJORITY voting block.
Rand Paul makes complete sense. He is a Realist.

Well, it's apparent you never want the GOP to win another national election...nor a good number of Senate, House or Governor seats again.
The GOP cannot win without libertarians OR social conservatives.
They'll just have to find a way to get along or the Democrats will continue to make gains until such time as all other parties just close up shop.
I'm GUESSING here, but my sense is that both the social conservatives and libertarians are about 25% each of the Republican party. The rest can be called "moderates" or "stupid", which ever your prefer.
But both factions care very deeply about the course of the country and I believe they can find compromise.
Even while continuing to argue:)
Heard this nonsense before from folks like John McCain.
"They have to 'pay a fine', and fill out six forms in triplicate, so it's not Amnesty." "Yes, they all get to stay forever but it's not Amnesty because Amnesty is something else..."
It’s enough to make one think that the ACLU isn’t really a good guide for what qualifies as “libertarian”.
There are actual reasons why both of the Pauls are Republicans, not Libertarians.
I guess I’m old fashioned because I prefer patriotic candidates who defend my homeland from massive illegal invasions from the third world.
Bearing false witness?
