Is Rick Perry the GOP Dark Horse for 2016?
The American Spectator ^ | 3.7.14 | 9:50PM | Aaron Goldstein

I caught a bit of Rick Perry's CPAC speech today and, boy, does he have a fire in the belly.

Had we seen this fire in 2012, then perhaps he would have won the GOP nomination. Of course, Perry underwent back surgery which significantly contributed to his lackluster campaign.

He already has an exploratory group. He would guarantee a conservative win because of the black vote he would cut into. Does he really have to be a professional politician? How has that been working for us?

Do we think he is smart enough to surround himself with wise and godly counsel?

I like Rick Perry also. I always thought it was likely the pain killers that contributed to his terrible debate performance. If you watch interviews with him or his speeches he is very articulate and thoughtful. He is a states righter which warms my heart and a facilitator of job creation. God knows we need some of that.

Right now I am OK with Cruz, Paul or Perry in 2016. Maybe Walker I don’t know that much about him yet. I’m concerned he does not have the pazazzz it takes to win the Presidency.

Then, by definition, Walker is also an alien-lover because every governor has to follow the federal laws in regarding to treatment of illegal immigrants.

Enjoy voting for your particular alien-lover.

You don’t sell these goals by saying.... “Socialism or Free Trade. Pick one”

I say that for the perpetually optimistic.................. like you..

Truth is.................... ONLY a Civil War can or will fix things..
There IS political evil in this(our) world..

And all of it is (democrat and republican) generated.. in America..
expecting either party to make things right is dreamy ..

FREEDOM ALWAYS costs blood.. those unwilling to die for it are called SLAVES..

Perhaps you need to review you very narrow assumption.....

take a break and watch Perry’s stemwinding speech conclusion. Listen to his well reasoned, expertly delivered words and reconsider your assumptions.

We must take Reagan’s ideals and move them forward. Or we lose. It’s really that simple.

Reagan was an optimist... the time for optimism IS OVER....
An under ground must be built while it is still possible to build one..

The time for commie block captains is near.. then it will be much much harder if even possible..
There is a REASON there is NO domestic opposition to Fidel Castro..

I really like Sarah, she has more balls then 98% of the Boehner crowd.

Same here. I would choose her for President over any other name on our bench, and for the same reason. It's not just that, though. She's got those undefinable qualities that are unmistakeable in a true leader.

Perry's a good guy, but I believe being Governor of Texas is his natural high water mark.

I believed that, if he had been elected President, he would have done his best to follow through on the promises he was making.

Perry promised us Texans that he wouldn't run for President if we elected him to a third term. We kept our part of the bargain.

No but I can point to the man that tried desperately to build it, and just because he was unsuccessful, does not make him more palatable, besides I am still Heartless.

That complaint comes across to me in a similar way to how a parent might take away the keys away from his teen son because that son broke a promise to night drive at night because he chose to break that promise to save a friend’s life because some Latino gang was trying to take his life.

“A promise is a promise!”, you cried.

Unless you don’t believe that America teeters in the edge from the abyss, some promises are better off not kept.

I love Ted Cruz but he’s half Cuban, not Mexican. But Hispanic either way, just a different life experience. His father knew the repression communism brings and escaped to the USA, experienced the American dream and produced a patriotic son.

You’ve jumped to a whole lot of conclusions.

You stated: “There IS political evil in this(our) world..”

I never denied that there wasn’t.

You said: “And all of it is (democrat and republican) generated.. in America..
expecting either party to make things right is dreamy ..”

All of it? People of all walks of life commit evil acts whether they are Dems, Repubs, Libertarians, or what have you.

I never suggested that either party can make things right per se. You said that the ONLY platform a candidate should run on is: SOCIALISM or FREE TRADE. Pick one. To disagree with this tactic isn’t to say that either/or party can “make things right” per se. It simply means that the right presidential candidate must be able to present a platform which enables the undecided to decide, the disenchanted to be enchanted, and those without hope to discover possibilities.

The next presidential candidate must be an individual of true conviction, character, and vision, and he/she must be able to effectively communicate a definitive vision which will inspire and restore hope.

I am not talking about compromise either. The reason so many conservatives were excited about Sarah Palin when she first entered the national arena was because she effectively communicated ideas, ideals, and courage plainly. Furthermore, voters recognized that Sarah Palin was the real deal.

I wish to see the real deal. If you wish to call that “dreamy”, well so be it.

The real deal is the voting booths are contaminated corrupt
in MOST places.. not all places BUT most places..

Therefore WHO you vote for is a disillusion..
I say VOTE..... just don’t expect it to count for anything..

Why vote.?..... force of habit..
If you’re not ready for Civil War.. well then thats really all you’ve got.. so do it..
WIll give you those warm fuzzies..
