WASHINGTON (AP) The Obama administration says the government shutdown last fall resulted in nearly 8 million fewer visitors to national parks, costing the parks and surrounding communities an estimated $414 million in lost visitor spending.
Interior Secretary Sally Jewell said the shutdown was a striking reminder that national parks are a powerful economic engine for local economies across the country.
The report released Monday said five states, including California and Arizona, lost more than $20 million during the 16-day shutdown.

This was Obama’s decision. They should quit bitching and pay their ‘fair share’ of the load in the road to devolution.
It’s going to keep on costing them because I’m going to avoid em.
Obama’s stash.
Obama’s thugs.
Obama’s SCANDAL.
Come now! Senator Reid deserves more credit than Soetoro-Obama for refusing to negotiate! Be fair!
It was definitely The 2013 Reid-Obama Government Shutdown.
Barry was the one who called for the Barrycades.
When one is an Al-Manseurian, closeted Muslim/Queer Candidate dedicated to the destruction of America, such costs are the goal, not an unintended consequence.
Good point!
Give credit where credit is due.
Barry S. also refused financial funeral aid to the families of his soldiers that CIC Obama sent to their deaths.

SALT LAKE CITY A new report shows Utah received a signficant financial return on its money by stepping up and offering to pay for the operation of its eight national parks during last October's government shutdown.from: KSL TVThe report released Monday by the National Park Service shows that for the nearly $1 million the Utah Legislature agreed to pay to keep the parks open during a six-day period, nearly $10 million was spent at the parks and in local gateway communities.
It was Obama who ordered them shut down to “punish” people for opposing him.
Not counted in this are the many people who will probably avoid the National Parks in the future because of the bad taste it left in their mouths. I’m one of them. I honestly don’t feel the same way I did before about the parks or the rangers. I used to regard the latter as non-political jobs for those who were simply interested in nature and liked serving the public, but seeing them doing their master’s bidding by kicking people out of parks and harassing and punishing elderly tourists and even foreign visitors was disgusting.
Soliders? Dying?
There can’t be any war if there is no anti-war movement...
Everyone knew that before Obama pulled his shut down sh**.

the Obamas racked up $7.4 million during just three trips in 2013 in flight expenses only.
The whole park shutdown was nothing more than spitefulness on the part of the administration. The little Kenyan poofter threw a temper tantrum. This is what our so-called leadership has devolved to.
Time to do away with National Parks and National Roads and National Conservation thefts....and the EPA.
Agree.
More self-defeating unintended consequences for ‘progressives’.
Stupid is as stupid does.
Wow we have 182M visitors to these parks? 8M X (365 / 16) = 182M
