WASHINGTON If Hillary Rodham Clinton doesnt run for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2016 and theres one chance in five of that the party could have a nervous breakdown.
On the national level, the Democratic bench is weaker, or more overshadowed, than at any time in the past several decades. There are several reasons. The election disaster in 2010 wiped out many possibilities, especially at the gubernatorial level. More important, with two heavyweight camps President Obama and the Clintons there is no political oxygen for anyone else.
Suppose, for example, that upon taking over as secretary of state, Mrs. Clinton had declared that she wouldnt run for elective office again. The field might look much different today.
For one, several ambitious female Democrats might be dipping their toes in the presidential waters: for example, Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota or Kirsten E. Gillibrand of New York. Now, the Democratic political sisterhood is completely vested in Hillary Clinton.
This sense that America is overdue to elect a woman is powerful and extends even beyond its borders.
Im optimistic Ill live to see a female president of the United States, Julia Gillard, the former Australian prime minister, said in an interview last week.
If Mrs. Clinton doesnt run, the focus will be on Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr., who is 71 and personally popular with Democrats. But his two previous presidential runs crashed, and in 2016, he would be older than Ronald Reagan was when he was re-elected in 1984.

I have said before, and I am completely serious, that I am thrilled that Michael Jackson never heard of the presidency.
It is my belief she will run, then resign soon after taking office. Which is the only reason she will run, because she has no intension of serving out her term.
The REAL candidate will be who she chooses as her running mate.
I think they should run Pelosi...
Just for laughs and giggles!
How about the fact that 2010 wiped out the Blue Dog dems and left nothing but left-of-Marx, crazed liberal democrats.?
On another note, no ever talks about the late Teddy Kennedy anymore. He is too centrist i guess. In today’s political climate he could be elected president. With the media’s help of course.
Couldn’t you see Elizabeth Warren being the Dem nominee and Sarah Palin being the GOP nominee, and when America sees the two of them side-by-side on the Debate Stage; Warren ugly as a dog’s shaved butt and Sarah looking as beautiful as ever..... Can you say “President Palin”?
I thought obama was the first woman preezy.
Warren/Castro 2016
Its coming.

And the GOP will counter with Palin/Cruz or Palin/Rubio
If not Hillary then I say Biden will get the nomination. Joe’s an idiot but he knows how to appeal to the Democratic base.
Warren has an outside shot. Her chances, like Obama’s in 2008, depend how much the media will like her and cover up her negatives.
Cuomo has the personality of a brick. He made a guest appearance on “The Bait” TV show and even the crab boat captains mentioned his stiff manner. I don’t think the Dims will go for a wooden candidate.
Howard Dean? Wildcard, who knows with the Dims nowadays.
Booker? Too many negatives, IMO. If there is going to be a black candidate then it will be Deval Patrick. Then again, the Dims have done the black candidate thing so they may want a woman or a crazy person (Biden or Dean).
Anyway, that’s how I see it and I’ll be the first to admit that I could be totally wrong. We’ll see.
Biden/Moochelle......you nailed it.
Putin is to Obama
as
Palin is to Clinton.
The qualifications for democrat presidential candidates have gotten so low now that it shouldn’t be assumed that their selection will be an actual human.
