Kerry Kennedy acquitted of drugged driving in New York WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - Kerry Kennedy was acquitted Friday of drugged driving in a July 2012 incident in which she accidentally took a sleeping pill and then sideswiped a truck in a wild highway drive she said she didn't remember.
Kennedy hugged and clasped hands with her lawyers as a six-person jury cleared her of driving while impaired, a misdemeanor. It had carried the potential for up to a year in jail, though that would be unlikely for a first-time offender.

In New York, money talks and bullshit walks.
Lawyers fee was probably in the tens of thousands. More I hope.
Just reaffirms the the old saying “it’s good to be a Kennedy”
So if you fail the test you should just wait a few hours and then try again? Sweet.
so, because she had an excuse, and she is a Kennedy, she is not held to the same standard someone else would be held to.
I am sooooooo shocked! Just shocked, I tell you! /sarc
We are supposed to accept the “I’m a Kennedy” defense.
Was there ever any doubt?
Who the hell was on that jury?
“...I am going to demand to be tried as a Kennedy...”
Make sure you bring the long suffering Ethel in the wheelchair.
Can you imagine trying that for DUI with booze?
Maybe so. Was it her first offense?
Ah, the world’s greatest criminal justice system. Commit one crime, get acquitted of another crime or plea bargain to a third one.
By the way, I didn’t know that purposeful taking of a sleeping medication, of which she was acquitted, was a crime.
The question is intent. Purposely taking a sleeping medication is not a crime. She was not charged with that.
Driving under the influence of a medication is a crime. She admits that she did that, but that it was an accident and not her intent. The jury believed her (fair enough) and acquitted her of drugged driving.
But I wouldn’t try an “I didn’t intend to get drunk at Happy Hour” defense if you get popped for DUI.
It was determined that she isn’t a peasant.
That's right, but she was declared not guilty of 'intent'! That could work for any crime with an O.J. jury like this one.
Are there any Kennedy’s who AREN’T addicts, rapists, or mentally ill?
She hit another vehicle. Guilty!
She can afford better lawyers......................
What else did you expect?
