Red River Valley

From this valley they say you are going.
I will miss your bright eyes and sweet smile.
For they say you are taking the sunshine.
That has brightened our pathway awhile.

Chorus:
Come and sit by my side if you love me.
Do not hasten to bid me adieu.
But remember the Red River Valley and the cowboy that loves you so true.

Ah! May The Red Rose Live Alway - Stephen Foster, 1854
Not a pickup line, but lamenting a lost love.

I dream of Jeannie with the light brown hair
Borne, like a vapor, on the summer air
I see her tripping where the bright streams play
Happy as the daisies that dance on her way

Many were the wild notes her merry voice would pour
Many were the blithe birds that warbled them o'er
Oh! I dream of Jeannie with the light brown hair
Floating, like a vapor, on the soft, summer air

I long for Jeannie with the day dawn smile
Radiant in gladness, warm with winning guile
I hear her melodies, like joys gone by
Sighing round my heart o'er the fond hopes that die

This tune got a lot of airplay in the middle and late 1960's on KWIZ, which beamed "oldies" across Orange County, Calif. at 1480 kcs.

Amazed it took to #33 to finally get to “I want to hold your hand.” It was my second thought right after Light My Fire.

Bread, not America.

Indeed -- you have no idea the night I have been through. I almost made my flight out of Toronto and then almost made it out of the freaking terminal to almost get a taxi, which I eventually did.

And I grew up on Bread making it with chicks ("Diary" and the O so noble "It don't matter to me.").

I am truly tired.
