Decorated Navy SEAL Brett Jones had already survived two harrowing deployments overseas when, back in the states, his world came crashing down around him, all thanks to an answering machine.
It was the morning after a welcome back party, and Jones was calling to thank a fellow Navy serviceman who organized the bash. The man wasn't in, so Jones left him a message at his military office, and then he did something without thinking about it.
"I said, 'I love you' before I hung up," Jones told ABC News, recounting the story by email.

Good.
Thats it then. This homophobic institution needs to be disbanded.
It seems like the navy decided to let him continue his career and dropped the investigation. Honestly he kept it secret and wasn’t open about it and it was just a woman who reported it and they started an investigation which in my opinion is excessive
at the end of the day the guy was risking his life for his country and i’m sure his fellow soldiers didn’t care about his personal life on the battlefield
but in the end he chose to be honorably discharged so I don’t see how the incident ruined his career
Actually, in all of life.
I’ll do that about once in every 1,000 phone calls.
Every once and a while someone will do it to me. Usually a distracted, henpecked husband.
Actually, he could have said: “I love you, MAN” and it would have been a Budweiser commecial.
Really? How? What 6 year old has ANY concept of what sexual attraction is? At 6 he knew he preferred boys to girls? OK, that describes most 6 year old boys, only none of them are thinking about sex, because they have no concept of what it is.
He was a sailor.
Let me get this right: The man is a hero because he happens to be a former SEAL who lets other men play with his private parts? How many stories have we seen on SEALs because they are not gay? And as for his “husband,” he no more has a husband than he can fly without help.
It's always the vindictive, spiteful gossipy female who destroys others careers.
This story makes me want to Puke, Spit, and beat the living hell out of these fairy’s, simultaneously, for destroying the reputation of our fighting services
I am used to putting a ubiquitous “Love You” at the end of my telephone calls with my wife and children. I have almost accidently done it speaking to friends and nonfriends, as my mind floats on to the next task, before I’m done with the current one.
I don’t really see anything necessary here but a good ribbing.
You are exactly right. Six year old children have no concept of sexuality and therefore cannot possibly know what their FUTURE sexual preference will be.
This “I’ve known since I was six”, i.e. “I was born this way”, is just one of those memes designed to shut the normal world up, so long as one doesn’t really think about it too much.
So let’s take this to it’s logical conclusion. It doesn’t matter if one was ‘born that way’. God knows that and He still said it’s a sin.
It’s funny how things have changed; or, maybe it’s just me. I didn’t grow up in a family where the men were very demonstrative, physically speaking. I guess I just took that to be normal behavior. But both of my sons, in their 30’s now, have always been the “I love ya, man” kind of guys, kids seem to be that way more these days, and thank God, it’s rubbed off on me. To be able to give my boys and now, my grandkids, a hug when they come to visit, or leave on a trip, or to hug an old friend I haven’t seen for a while, not only feels right but is very freeing from my old ways. I’m really happy to have gotten past the hang-ups of my childhood.
The queer destroyed his own career.
I honestly assumed it was a mistake, like he was talking to his wife or something.
The same gag was used in the movie “Courageous” with no homosexual intent.
There sure are a lot of articles lately promoting homosexual deviancy. Could there be some sort of agenda here....?
