. . .I am working to encourage states, governors, mayors, state legislators to raise their own minimum wage . .

Ah, now cut it out Barry, you're not "working" to do anything beyond your normal daytime routine of playing pocket pool and tweeting Reginald - maybe a little NC 2 A hoops action on ESPN.

If you were working you wouldn't be having Google chats and campaign crap during working hours (and we know you knock off at 4PM every day)

Obama’s just making it “fair”. It wasn’t fair that he had a full time job and others didn’t have any job. So Obama is just spreading his job around so others get some work too...

Summers explained that he makes $7.25 an hour and has been on strike four times seeking a wage increase.

He has gone on strike 4 times?

Now why wouldn't anyone want to have this guy in their workforce?

“I am working to encourage states, governors, mayors, state legislators to raise their own minimum wage,”

And IF minimum wage is raised what will stop companies from cutting the workforce? I’ve seen Rite Aid stores with ONE employee visible. If companies can run their stores etc with ONE employee making $10-30 an hour that is what will happen.
All this escapes a man making a fortune doing nothing but Undoing what has worked.

I like to find a post I can disagree with but I can’t on this one, all the intelligent people posted here. I want to stir the pot a little but not possible here. I am getting depressed.

Obama got his answer wrong...he said Reagan took office in 1980....actually, Reagan took office in 1981.

I assume Obama doesn’t think that by raising the minimum wage by $3 an hour is gonna have any affect at all on the prices of goods. If everyone makes more, everything will cost more. Therefore nullifying the raise in minimum wage. Am I wrong?

Employer's fault. Insurance company's fault. Republicans' fault. 1 percenters' fault.

NEVER Obama's, Socialism's, Democrats' or the ACA's fault.

Obviously (emphasis added), the way to reach millions of people would be for Congress to pass a new federal minimum wage law. ..."

Thank you for referencing that article Red Badger. Please bear in mind that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

What we're probably not going to hear from the low-information writers at the National Review about the so-called federal minimum wage is the following. With the exception of the federal entities indicated in the Constitution's Clauses 16 and 17 of Section 8 of Article I which are under the exclusive legislative control of Congress, the states have never delegated to Congress, via the Constitution, the specific power to regulate a national minimum wage, minimum wage being a 10th Amendment-protected intrastate power issue.

Note that corrupt federal politicians are likely using the constitutionally indefensible idea of a national minimum wage to win votes from low-information voters who have probably never been taught about the federal government's constitutionally limited powers.

Also, since since Mr. Summers, the fry cook, is complaining about Obamacare in conjunction with minimum wage, please note the following about Obamacare. Regardless what activist justices want everybody to think about the constitutionality of Obamacare, the Supreme Court has historically clarified that, just as with so-called national minimum wage, the states have never delegated to Congress, via the Constitution, the specific power to regulate, tax and spend for public healthcare purposes. This is evidenced by the following excerpts from a related case opinion which have been posted in related threads.

”State inspection laws, health laws, and laws for regulating the internal commerce of a State, and those which respect turnpike roads, ferries, &c. are not within the power granted to Congress. (emphases added)” —Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.

“Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States.” —Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.

The reason that federal government is getting away with usurping state powers, sadly, is because parents have not been making sure that their children are being taught about the federal government's constitutionally limited powers imo, and in the way that the Founding States had intended for those powers to be understood.

The solution is fairly simple.....

Get another fry cook job to make up the lost hours

This should have been Obama’s response:

“Hey, bro, I can tell you what ya gotta do. You run for president of the United States. Look at me, here I was a black guy who doesn’t even have any record of having attended college, who had no father who claimed paternity for me, who had no education whatsoever, no skills and never worked at any job other than being a community rabble rouser. But because I was Black, everyone felt sorry for me and elected me as president. I hardly have to work at all, don’t know what I’m doing, get to play golf whenever I want and get million dollar vacations all over the world. Why don’t you too run for president, dude? I’d even vote for you.”

Of course, this doesn’t have much to do with the minimum wage.

Judging by the number of posts cracking on this fry-cook fellow, one can easily see why the President chose to avoid and deflect the point of his question regarding the negative effects the ACA has had on full-time (and even part-time labor) especially in the service and retail industry.

In the past few weeks I have seen the President boldly answer questions with useless words having nothing to do with the subject at hand. And he gets away with it why? Look at this thread. It's way too easy.

The fry cook’s error is assuming Obama cares.

Summers explained that he makes $7.25 an hour and has been on strike four times seeking a wage increase. “We can’t survive, it’s not livin’,” he said.

So, do something about it.

When I met my wife I had a full time job, three part time jobs and was going to college three nights a week.

It seems like I was tired and hungry for years but it paid off.
