I just wanted to request some prayers for my dad who is dying of cancer. He is expected to pass this week. He's in his 60s and has been fighting this for about a year. It's hard to see him in these last moments, struggling to breathe and communicate.
I also feel so bad for my mom who is working hard to make him comfortable. Fortunately, there isn't much physical pain but I kind of wish he didn't know he's dying. I want this situation to be over, yet I don't want to see him go. Not like this. Anyway, any prayers for him, his soul and my mom would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.
Prayers up.
First of all, my prayers for your father’s peaceful passing. You post brings back the “memories” of my fathers succumbing to cancer of the bone marrow thirty years ago when he was only 63. His wasting away with that terrible disease still makes me want to cry even to this day, so I would add my prayers for you as well. I miss him even at the age of 73, and find myself “having conversations with him” about the stuff he missed when i am alone driving and times like that. He missed so much of what i have, thankfully thus far, been able to enjoy. He only knew one of his five grand children, and he didn’t get to enjoy a life in retirement that I have had. Cancer is an evil killer, and I worry that unless we get rid of the RATs, medical research will go out the window with the ACA. Peace be with you.

My Dad passed with cancer 9 months ago tomorrow. This is a song we took comfort in at his funeral.

Hold his hand, keep talking to him.
I’m very sorry. I know how difficult this is. Cancer took my dad within a year of diagnosis, and I had the same thoughts you’re having - I wished he didn’t know he was dying.
Prayers for your father, you, and the family.
Prayers up for you and yours!
Prayers that a loving God will wrap his arms around all of you, and give you the peace that passes all understanding.
Praying God holds your family close!
Prayers for your Dad and Mom
May the Lord ease his stress and suffering.
I lost my Mom to cancer this past September. She knew the Lord and loved Him very much, and I know I will see her again.
Let me ask, does your Dad know the Lord? Are you sure? Please make sure.
If there is any doubt, tell your Dad about Jesus and see that he has a chance to ask Him to be the savior and Lord of his life.
I didn't see a mention of whether or not your dad is on hospice care. If he's not (and if his prognosis is that he has less than 6 months to live), I strongly urge you to have his doctor put him on service with hospice. It will make the transition easier for everyone concerned. Besides managing his pain and discomfort, hospice provides a whole team of support for the caregivers and other loved ones. Depending on the patient's condition, it's often possible for the patient to do what most people wish for all along -- to be able to die at home. Each situation is different so there are times when patients can't be moved from the hospital. Nevertheless, they can still qualify for hospice care while in the hospital.
If he's not on service with a local hospice, call one and talk with someone in intake or with a social worker and see if he is hospice appropriate. They can then tell you how to get the doctor to write the order. I'd recommend speaking to them first as doctors can often be resistant to putting patients on service. I'm not sure why. It seems to be a pride thing in many cases.
BTW, hospice is covered by most insurance plans (or was before ObamaCare) as well as Medicare (although Medicare hospice benefits have taken a bit of a hit under ObamaCare). There are also 501(C)(3) not-for-profit hospices for those who have no resources.
I'm so sorry for all that your family is going through right now. Lord, please visit this dear family in their time of need. Let Your presence and Your strength be known as they face this challenge. In Jesus' mighty Name. Amen.
May Almighty God comfort your father, mother, you and your family during this time of trial. May your dad find Grace and Peace in the Prince of Peace Jesus Christ.
God Bless.
Prayers up for you all!

That is the greatest gift your father could give. Continued prayers for you and your family.
