Ah, the elation that was felt yesterday when the headlines started showing up yesterday. The final report on the environmental impact of the proposed Keystone Pipeline was released, clearing the way for a speedy approval for construction from the White House. One of my coworkers read it out loud and declared it was about time. I pointed out that the favorable report was not the last word and was certainly not an approval to start construction of the pipeline, but my coworker said Obama would have no choice but to approve it. I told him simply, we shall see.
I have felt all along that Keystone would never be built, as long as Obama is President. I do not believe he has any intention of allowing construction to begin. I have said as much in several blog posts on the issue. For anyone who believes the final report is the final word, think again. Not so fast is the warning from the White House. President Obama and John Kerry will make the final decision to approve or disapprove the Keystone Pipeline.
Fox News - A new environmental assessment from the State Department that raised no major environmental concerns on long-delayed Keystone XL pipeline isn't the last step in deciding whether the pipeline can be built, the White House said late Friday.President Obama has stalled the Keystone Pipeline at every turn. Citing environmental concerns, he has used every excuse he could manufacture to prevent the construction from beginning. Those environmental concerns have now been addressed and debunked, yet he still refuses approval. He has, in fact, given no indication that he has any intention of granting the approval. Never mind that the environmental concerns have been shown to be negligible. Never mind that the report he commissioned has shown there is no real environmental danger. Never mind that the experts have shown there is no real reason to delay the pipeline. You see, President Obama is smarter than all of them. Or so he seems to think. The long-delayed pipeline got a major boost as it cleared a major hurdle toward approval, a serious blow to environmentalists' hopes that President Obama will block the controversial project running more than 1,000 miles from Canada through the heart of the U.S.
The White House released a statement pushing back on the notion that the pipeline is now headed for speedy approval, saying Sec. of State John Kerry and other agency heads will "closely evaluate" the report in the coming weeks.
"The president has clearly stated that the project will be in the national interest only if it does not significantly exacerbate the problem of carbon pollution," White House spokesman Matt Lehrich said.
"A decision on whether the project is in the national interest will be made only after careful consideration of the SEIS and other pertinent information, comments from the public, and views of other agency heads.
There have been reports before of how this President conducts business in his White House. He believes he is the smartest man in the room and acts accordingly. No matter what his advisers or the experts say, he is going to do what he wants, what he believes is the right thing to do. Hence, one of the reasons why the Keystone Pipeline will never be built under President Obama. He doesn't believe it is good for America or our energy independence.
There are a few issues on which President Obama is of a singular mind and focus. One of them is the healthcare system in America. We have ObamaCare as a result. Rolled into that is making sure a woman's right to kill her unborn child is not infringed in the least. Pay attention to what Obama says about these issues. He talks about them constantly. The environment is in the same category for Obama. He wholeheartedly believes in global warming and that the human race is to blame. He despises the oil and gas industry and he can not abide what he perceives to be their wrongdoings. Hence, another of the reasons why the Keystone Pipeline will never be built under President Obama.
This is an ideology for him. His actions and words on global warming and climate since becoming President prove it to be so. He perceives the Keystone Pipeline to be a real danger to the climate. There is very little more important to him. Thus, his ideology will prevent him from granting the approval. He will come up with a fabricated excuse, but it will boil down to his ideology. He can do nothing less than follow what he truly believes. That doesn't mean we shouldn't give up the fight, but unless the approval is taken out of Obama's hands, the Keystone Pipeline will never be built.
Just one more kickback.
Nothing to see here...
Maybe the one after Hitlary.
He will ultimately rely on the law of supply and demand. If the pipeline is built, more supply in the US for less money, enabling more demand to be met... - while if they have to ship it to China, even though ultimately it is burned there, he will justify keeping the prices higher in the US as a means to encourage conservation.
Now they will demand a 5 year hearing on whether or not the study was done correctly.
“I have felt all along that Keystone would never be built, as long as Obama is President. I do not believe he has any intention of allowing construction to begin”
Thre ya have it folks.
“Why dont the Canadians run the pipe west and ship to Japan and China?”
The pipeline goes to Houston to the refineries there to process the oil into its various parts. The building of the pipeline is a cash cow from where it starts all along the way through the various states until it gets to Houston.
So the pipeline is already built?
“So the pipeline is already built?”
No. AS the pipeline is BEING BUILT, jobs will be created in every state through which the pipeline goes which is numerous states until it reaches Houston, Texas.
And when do you think it will be built. Ob has three more years and then assume hillary
“And when do you think it will be built. Ob has three more years and then assume Hillary”
You seem to have a comprehension problem.
Chief Thinskin isn’t about to give his pal Warren Buffett any competition in the oil transportation business.
