Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin today posted this Status Update on Facebook:
On this day in 1973 the Paris Peace Accords were signed. Although controversial, this treaty resulted in the release of our American POWs in Vietnam. Among them was John McCain. Our courageous POWs had endured unimaginable punishment at the hands of enemy captors in their sacrificial service to country. Our appreciation for them cannot be adequately articulated.
So many of these vets and POWs have continued to serve our country in private life. Theyre still fighting for America and showing their love of country in all they do. Some like Congressman Sam Johnson of Texas and Senator John McCain serve us in the halls of Congress today.
I consider Senator John McCain an American hero and a friend. He fights to remind our President that the federal governments first priority must be strong defense of our homeland, and, like Congressman Johnson, he fights against big-spending colleagues who dont prioritize for our militarys needs. Upon the Senators shoulders hes carried part of our message of opposition to todays fundamental transformation of America directly to the problem: President Obama and Harry Reids far left agenda.
I appreciate Senator McCain's steadfastness in demanding truth in the White Houses Benghazi cover-up. Because of his persistence we WILL get that truth, and then more eyes will be open to see how dangerous an Obama-led retreating America is in this volatile world.
It goes without saying we dont all agree on all political issues. For instance, I shall keep pushing to open ANWR, I oppose letting illegal aliens cut in line and receive American benefits via immigration reform, and I oppose any Congressional action that allows President Obama to incur more U.S. debt. During this time of dangerous lawlessness in the executive branch, those who agree on stopping the intended transformation of our country had better unite to fight. So at this time, it's perplexing to see Senator McCains good efforts to uncover the Obama agenda being ignored and perhaps even hindered now by those wanting to censure the Arizona Senator. Despite our differences on some other issues, there is no questioning Senator McCains dedication to national security in spite of the White Houses agenda.
We live in a time of diminishing virtues because of societal influence towards total self-centeredness. This is unfortunate and makes raising families, conducting business, and governing that much more challenging. I know how important the virtue of loyalty is because in politics its pretty much nonexistent. I stand on that most important virtue and answer those asking today: Yes, I am proud to have been asked to run with him in 2008, and he is my friend.
One more thing, if you've met his beautiful mother you know where he gets his tenacity. Roberta McCain is one tough Mama Grizzly.
- Sarah Palin
She reminds me of people in my life as a lad and today friends that are strong Christians having a positive word with you to steer you in the right direction. Notice she did it without yelling, being mean, vindictive, sardonic or a host if other adjectives to sort of try to get him to see the light in a mini come to Jesus moment. Whether he listens or not is another thing. She must get a sense that the pressure is on more than we know behind the scenes, especially with his recent rebuking in AZ. She is a class act, that is why we think so highly of her here on FR...
Agreed re: McCain.
Also, I think it generally best not to write Facebook posts proclaiming one’s virtue.
I love Sarah but she needs to stay the hell away, run away as fast as she can, from McQweeg. He will only bring her down.
She has more than paid her dues with this clown.
The loonies will come out and say Sarah has lost it and is now unclean. Then, they will lament how none of the true conservatives ever seems to do so good...
RE Sarah:
As much as I admire and respect the lady, she’s a mystery to me when it comes to the disgraceful POS McLame.
Maybe she feels a sense of loyalty to him for bringing her to the national stage, I don’t know.
Or maybe it’s just “one team, one fight” and she’s doing the Reagan 11th Commandment : Thou shalt not criticize a Fellow Republican”.
Don’t know.
That photo shows a VERY different man than what we have right now.
Back then, when that picture was taken, I doubt he’d be as deferential to the other side as he is - and has been - now.
For his service, I respect him.
For his political treachery and backstabbing of our own people... not so much.
“...She is a class act,...”
She is, indeed. And that is why the left went after her with such a vengeance.
They will always show you who they hate - and fear - by the vindictiveness of their actions.
Unfortunately It Is All About The Money To The Beltway Occupants
Unfortunately John McCain has a close “buddy” who tags along with him named Lindsey Graham.....I sure hope these kind words don’t apply to him in the upcoming primary election in South Carolina.
No one is perfect and does everything the way I would but maybe Sarah’s way is a better way. I agree to disagree with her view.
If I lived in Arizona right now I would be censuring McCain and wishing his early retirement and working towards that end.
No it's not that. Recall last year her comment that it was open season on RINOs.
She is actually praising McCain here for going after Obama.
And the censor McCain got that she is critical of was for consistently joining Dems against Republicans on votes.
It's hard to imagine how his life could be so empty that instead of enjoying his golden years with his family and, his wife and all her money, he would prefer to immerse himself in the beltway cesspool of sleazy, immoral and narcissistic thieves, scoundrels and whores. I can't think of a more disgusting existence.
I don’t know about lucky, but I just got up to a SNOW white yard and 21 degree weather which it says feels like 11 degrees.
Thanks God the forecast calls for 68 degrees on Friday and 74 degrees on Saturday!
Agreed re: McCain.

I agree!
Norm, my moment came when I realized her immigration fix was McCain’s immigration fix.
I don’t care how they word it, at the end of the day they all support pathway to citizenship. Register so you can stay here and work is the exact same thing. In six years or so, they can apply to start the citizenship process, whether they admit it up front or not.
Along with this comes elevated immigration access to Mexico to alleviate the need for illegal immigration.
These folks don’t seem to understand our nation is being swamped. I don’t know what it will take for them to figure it out. Losing California hasn’t even caused them to wise up. Now that magic is spreading across the nation.
If that weren’t bad enough, they’re flooding this nation with every person on the planet they can that have diametrically opposed views to the traditional American views.
You start thinking about the implications, and simple ‘tells’ like supporting McCain become very very important.
McCain is a POS lying bastard. Jeff McFlake is not far behind. Sarah Palin will not change my mind, no matter how grateful she feels towards the slimy bastard.
He is old and changed from his former enthusiasms, and American fervor. It happens. Time for him to retire. MO
2.) She's trying to keep everyone's eye on the target, President Obama. There's nothing to be gained by ostracizing McCain at this time, especially if he's attacking the Administration's Benghazi debacle.
When I read Sarah Palin's Facebook post yesterday, I knew the uproar it would create here and having read the entire thread, I wasn't disappointed.
However, I have a different take. It's called not burning your bridges.
Suppose Palin intends to run for president. How does unnecessarily preempting McCain's support help her campaign? If any bridge is to be burned, let McCain do it. He will be the one who comes off as small, considering Palin's generosity towards him.
On the other hand, Palin already has the support of the tea party movement. Having McCain give her any kind of support can only help with the less supportive factions of the Republican party. At any rate, whatever happens, it won't be Palin that started the fire that burned that bridge. IMO, she is putting McCain into the box of her choosing.
Did you see this bit from her post?
“I oppose letting illegal aliens cut in line and receive American benefits via immigration reform, “
No I didn’t, but what does she propose?
Her detailed explanation to this point was to register them so they could stay and work. Then when asked if they have to go back home, she states, not if they do what is required of them.
When have they done what was required of them? In short, they haven’t once done what was required of them.
If she has changed her mind on this, I haven’t see the alternative she’s now hawking.
I’m not trying to be tough on Palin in particular here, because this is what they all do. They have mastered the art of saying things we want to hear, that mean absolutely nothing.
We all appreciated the comments that some of our leaders didn’t favor amnesty. Wow! Alriiiight.
Then you find out they want to devise a plan so the illegals can stay and some day become citizens.
Oh but this mustn’t be confused with amnesty, because this isn’t amnesty.
Why we’re going to charge them a fee. They each have to pay $1,000 dollars. So now citizenship is sold for $1,000 dollars. Great.
