David Remnick, author of the new nearly 17,000 word profile of President Barack Obama in the New Yorker, revealed in a podcast interview this week that a dispirited Obama told him that he misread the moment in political history and was shocked he could not get gun control measures passed in the wake of the December 2012 Newtown, Ct., Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in which a lone gunman killed twenty children and six adults.
Remnick left this revelation out of his 18 page article which was based on numerous in depth interviews with Obama. Remnick did not devote anything of substance in the article to Obamas gun control failure except to note he couldnt get it done. This is curious because the way Remnick describes it, this was an enormous political failure that took a toll on Obama . Remnick should have explored this further and reported on it.
Remnick spoke about Obamas reaction to his failure on gun control in a New Yorker podcast interview about the article with Executive Editor Dorothy Wickenden and Washington correspondent Ryan Lizza that was taped on Monday.
In describing Obamas reaction, Remnick sounds just as shocked as he says Obama is about the failure to pass gun control after Newtown. Remnick made his comments while speaking about Obamas ambitious second term agenda, including gun control, that he laid out in his Inaugural address one year ago this month.
Remnick: Well look at gun control. You had the ruthless slaughter of school children played out in front of the American public in Connecticut. If ever there was a moment emotionally and politically that serious gun control would take hold of Congress it was then. Eighty-three percent of the public was for at least some minimal gun control. The NRA was a mockery in a lot of quarters and who won? The NRA and the right.
I think this sh.., I know this shocked Obama. He said along this trip that I followed him on that one moment in political history where he really misread what would happen was on gun control. It was a terrible failure. And I think really dispiriting.
Obama made an angry speech in the Rose Garden after he was defeated in the Senate last April. He called it a shameful day for Washington.
Given the impact he says this political miscalculation had on Obama, it is curious Remnick chose not to include it in his profile but instead buried it in a podcast.
“....the WH is involved in staging many of the shootings....”
A totally plausible explanation, so much so it begins to grab attention. Consider the genesis of the “Fast and Furious” gun-walking scheme into Mexico. Then spread this out to a few nutcases of whom the Current Regime now squatting in the White Hut, keeping track through the surveillance programs now in place, assure that the cracks are sufficiently wide that the scene may be set up.
Logic would cause this particular chain of events to collapse, as it is too chancy and would involve a great deal more hand-on involvement, none of which has been even suggested.
Obama was hoping that the New Town shooting would be like Hitler’s Reichstag fire and be the crisis needed to begin dismantling the Second Amendment. However his two bit community organizer experience failed to grasp the significance of the Second Amendment to most Americans.
Do you think they are morally capable of doing it?
People are missing the saliently point here, when they point at coordinated WH involvement. That simply isn't happening. This is a case of fellow travelers. The WH, or the lib PTB don't have to issue marching orders. The far left know EXACTLY what has to be done to re-engineer society into what they want. The most fanatical are just as willing to commit atrocities as the inner circle at Jonestown was to drink the kool-aid. The rest of them are simply ready to exploit anything that happens to their benefit.
That is why there can be no compromising with the left; because these fellow travelers will attempt to move the goal posts on their own, once a deal is struck with the lib PTB.
Probably a “pulpit of dead children” his accomplices created with his foreknowledge and encouragement, just like the pulpit of dead Mexicans and Border Patrol agents he and Holder created with Fast and Furious.
You’ve disappointed me, and there will be consequences.

I am asking every reasonable American to help me tell the truth about the cowardice these senators demonstrated. I am asking for mothers to stop these lawmakers at the grocery store and tell them: You’ve lost my vote. I am asking activists to unsubscribe from these senators’ e-mail lists and to stop giving them money. I’m asking citizens to go to their offices and say: You’ve disappointed me, and there will be consequences.

What you said!
He is shocked that Americans don’t give up their rights in such a reactionary way?
What did he propose that could possibly have prevented it?
Fast and Furious having failed, graduating to the mass murder of innocent children was the Mahdi’s next step.

A great list of articles that combined would have even hardcore anti-conspiracy thinkers scratching their heads.
I seem to recall but cannot find an article detailing a mass grave for a bunch of the “children”. Since when does that occur?
I think people are beginning to suspect that the WH is involved in staging many of the shootings that have become increasingly more common under his administration in order to get gun control initiatives passed
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Staging them? No. Just no.
But profiting off of them? Using and manipulating these shootings to advance their own agendas?
Definitely. No question about it.
“Never let a good crisis go to waste.”
Obama, Bloomberg, et al were EUPHORIC they had an gun control push opening. They were too “beltway” to see how reality works.
Perhaps all these DC buffoons should be quaranteened on Manhattan.
Over 83% of Americans want our borders defended and the illegals gone but how’s that goin?
And that 83% knows perfectly well that we have much, much more than that, right now.
Proving again that Democrats see all tragedies as simply opportunities to further their agendas instead of grieving like the rest of us.
Morally, maybe. However, I don’t think they are stupid enough to take the risk of doing anything like that, when they can just wait for some nutjob to do it for them.
The American people were dispirited because no one was armed at the school to fight back and the police did not respond quickly enough.
Anyone with connecting brain synapses knew nothing these gleeful fanatical gun confiscators advocated would have protected those kids, in fact just the opposite.
Wise words.
Guns have only two enemies, rust and Obama.
