Maui County police says the late state health director Loretta Fuddy died due to cardiac arrhythmia as a result of stress after a Makani Kai Air plane crashed off of Molokai last month.
An arrhythmia is a problem with the rate or rhythm of the heartbeat.
Fuddy's death has been ruled as accidental.
On Dec. 11, the plane lost power off of Kalaupapa. Nine people were on board the plane including Fuddy. The pilot and seven other passengers survived the crash.
The pilot and a passenger who swam to shore have said Fuddy appeared fine while bobbing in the water after everyone exited the plane and waited for help to arrive.
Fuddy's brother, Lewis Fuddy, says she was healthy and didn't have any known heart problems.

“And, given her age, it would be very un-likely that she had an irregular heartbeat and didnt know about it. And her brother said she did not.”
I’m sure that is the case with a chronic condition, if she was having even semi-regular checkups. I’m not sure whether or not there might be physical signs to look for that could suggest some sudden arrythmia, that wouldn’t have caused any symptoms prior to the incident.
Ha! This coming from you is priceless. You fling around insults quite liberally.
Wrong. I don’t.
We’ll have to disagree on that. I could produce plenty of quotes that say otherwise, but I don’t carry personal disputes cross-thread in violation of FR policy.
Let me give you an example. If you sing off key, and someone mentions that fact, it’s not an insult.
Think about it.
As I said, we’ll just have to disagree.
That’s certainly easier than considering the fact that you might actually sing off key. (To stick w my analogy.)
Yeah the sidewalks in our cities are just littered with dead fat people. So are the malls and Wal-Marts. Pretty soon all the fat people will be dead and arrhythmia will be a thing of the past.
Yes, the concentration of potassium in the blood must be within a quite narrow range in the normal living individual. Injecting a high dose of potassium (usually potassium chloride) through a vein can cause sudden death, by means of arrhythmia. I'm aware of homicides that have been committed by medical personnel in exactly that way.
Taking in a high dose of potassium orally can do the same thing, but not quite as fast.
And Tom Clancy.
And Hastings.

Neither did Andrew Breitbart...
Got a link for that?
Here's a link that should lance your conspiracy theory:
I’ve considered it, and rejected it, so we’ll have to disagree.
Lol.
The real question is, did she die of drowning or gunshot or blunt trauma or polonium 210?
Water in the lungs would be drowning. Gunshot or blunt trauma would leave other signs. Polonium is too slow by several weeks (but a really sweet way to whack somebody even better than ricin as long as Scotland Yard doesn't get involved).
So, my bet is the arrhythmia diagnosis is a Wild Ass Guess, justified by process of elimination (and maybe bolstered by a medical history).
Is there a way to mask the high concentration of potassium, so that a person would not be aware that they were ingesting it?
My understanding is that the body has high levels of potassium post-mortem so potassium as a poison can go undetected in a tox screen. Is that correct?
Idi Amin.

Yeah. Most obese people float like a cork in salt water. Her deputy helped her into the life jacket according to earlier accounts, and said she seemed fine...
With or without Loretta Fuddy, the Won's birth certificate is at the very end of the things he needs to worry about.
Actually, it's a source of comic relief and misdirection that can come in handy when the Community is refusing to Organize for some reason. We can thank the birfers for that.
He went back to DC.
