Paul Ryan Defends Military Pension Cuts as Lawmakers Push Repeal(He keeps digging a deeper hole)

As various lawmakers push to repeal cuts to military pensions, Representative Paul Ryan (D-WI) continues to defend. the cuts. House leadership indicates no plans to take up any repeal. On December 27, Breitbart News reported that lawmakers from both parties had introduced legislation repealing Ryan's military pension cuts in part or in whole. But according to The Hill, there has been little progress toward reversing the cuts once Congress reconvenes in January.

If the majority of leadership shares Ryan's position, the push to reverse is moot because Ryan has made clear he sees "no choice between responsible reforms of military compensation" versus other reductions military leadership describes as "disproportionate cuts to military readiness and modernization."

Ryan has signaled a willingness to "reverse pension cuts for former service members retired for medical reasons." Beyond that, he is standing his ground.

If the House stands with him, the battle over military cuts will ultimately play out in November congressional elections, where those who supported the cuts will face challenges from candidates who oppose them.

With his cluelessness exhibited in this debacle, he has zero chance of ever being elected by conservatives.

Perhaps he will run under the Dem or RINO ticket?

I don’t know how you’re going to get federal workers to contribute more to their pensions with no corresponding cuts to the military side.

Ryan forfeited any chance when he apologized for Romney’s 47% statement. There are things you do as a running mate to support the ticket, but not things that throw away your best weapon.

$17,200,000,000,000 national debt and five times in unfunded liabilities! The country is bankrupt if it was a corporation. But they have the monopoly on printing press. So we either tank the US dollar or tighten belts. If dollar tanks, cost of living will rocket up.

Fairest and easiest way to achieve belt tightening is across the board cuts. Then add spending selectively, giving military expense high priority.

I have a better idea. Close down the 50% plus Unconstitutional federal agencies. Good places to start? EPA, Dept of Education, Dept of Energy, Dept of Labor, ATF, FDA, Homeland Security and cut the NSA. It should be put on notice either straighten up or be shut down, I can think of a lot of places to cut before cutting our military.

Besides our military unlike our beloved ones on Government Unionized Pay have been cut many times and our military stands at a 1996 level likely less now in actual allowed troops. Can't we do the same for government agencies?
