Supreme Court Halts Contraception Mandate For Religious Groups By M. Alex Johnson and Winston Wilde, NBC News Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor granted a last-ditch plea from Catholic groups Tuesday night to block a birth control mandate in the new health care law for religious organizations, just hours before it was to have gone into effect.
The archdioceses of Washington, D.C., and Nashville, Tenn., the Catholic Conference of Michigan and several affiliated groups requested the emergency stay of provisions of the Affordable Care Act that would require companies regardless of religious beliefs to provide contraceptives and other abortion-inducing drugs to their employees.
The groups want the mandate halted while the court considers a legal challenge, brought by the for-profit company Hobby Lobby, arguing that the requirement violates their religious liberties.

That’s incorrect. Each justice has jurisdiction over a circuit court of appeals. This came from Sotomayor’s circuit.
Drip, drip, drip...

A bit of Great News is always best when read when beginning a New Year. One (or I) pray it holds.
She attended Cardinal Spellman HS in the Bronx, a very Catholic school. Irish Catholics, Italians, a good friend of mine graduated from there same year as she did.
He’s also Catholic.
Sotomayor made more sense than Roberts - I’m feeling kinda dizzy...need to lie down for a while.
Upon reflection, I agree with you.
May be reading this wrong BUT my take is her faith ranks above her political stand. If he gives her trouble she may surprise him (and all of us) with her independence from 0
Checks and balance? This time it’s CHECK She has as much power as 0 at this time. He may learn not to challenge a woman’s power that he no longer has any control over.
She won’t stop SSM in Utah, though. There’s a study showing that the Supremes essentially rule by what’s popular with the voters or by private whim. We’re way past careful, thoughtful Constitutional rulings. Wickard proved that.
That is exactly why she delayed it.
I hope that’s true. But I won’t be shocked if it’s not.
Hmmm. How long before the SC hears the challenge now, I wonder?
Maybe the authorities can distribute the excess contraceptives among the urban blighted population. Give it away for free now rather than pay millions later to support the unwanted freeloaders that will be born to the mamas-got-several-daddys.
Unfettered access to birth control beats abortions or bringing yet another welfare case into this world.

That thin glimmer of integrity might just be fear of Pope Frankie. What if his Popeness actually made a judgement about good or evil occasionally?
Remember people, our fight is not against flesh and blood but against powers and principalities. Satan knows he has but a short time. He's NOT going to take it easy on you. He does NOT like you. He is not interested in your survival. Don't believe me? Just look at where he is. He's playing golf in Hawaii while millions are losing their jobs, healthcare and freedom.
Let he that has ears hear, let he that has understanding understand. Get right with God and protect your families people. Put your hope in God not in some oligarchy like the Supreme Court. They are not on our side.
NYE document dump?
Yes, they do.
From our viewpoint yes they do need more headaches.
From their point of view they don’t need any more, and that is why this decision was made.
Catholic BTTT!
